Not surprised by this at all. Politicians and Coaches will tell you what you want to hear. I've seen this dog and pony show many times. He can probably quadruple his salary with the badgers.
He wouldn't interview if he isn't interested. Never promise what you can't back up Gary.
On the other hand, Wisconsin is a much better school and I would leave USU for those greener pastures if I were him. More money. Bigger school. More prestige. Stepping stone to a top 10 program if he is successful.
Bon Voyage Gary!
Boy this will be embarrassing for the media who praised him up and down for staying. I bet for their sake, the media is hoping he doesn't get the job. State fans have got to be angry.
I am an Aggie fan and would wish him the best. Wisconsin is a level above any job in the West minus Oregon and USC. I do wish HC's would not state their intention to stay and then reverse course, just close your mouth unless you are for sure staying. With that said it was a great season, he's done an outstanding job, we've been in the toilet for so many years you cannot overlook the turnaround. Good luck just keep it closed next time.
He played the game within the media well. Bt ultimately I called it. Finally a good coach who has had success with a bad team can have even more success with a great team.
