My wife and I were returning to the Russell Building after a tour of the
capital. At the time my wife was in a wheel chair. As we entered the elevator,
Senator Inouye held the door for us. He was a very nice man. I wouldn't
have agreed with him politically in a million years, but we had a nice talk in
the elevator and I was impressed with the way he carried himself and his polite
demeanor. Sad day for the Hawaiians.
I appreciate Senator Inouye's lifelong service to our nation. He was a man
of courage that stood up for his honest beliefs. Though I disagreed with some
of his political views, I respected him more than most who have ever served in
congress. He will be missed.
