Brad, what are you talking about? Catholic 6? remember wac 16 which was crowded and big east bb was a messed. but mormon 6?

I would like to see LDS Business College field a team. Of course, they would be in the junior college ranks.

BYU-Idaho. They could have been NCAA Division I, II, or III, but decided on an internal program. I would think the WAC wishes they had gone Division I, although the Big Sky probably would have added them by now if they had.

BYU-Hawaii is in NCAA Division II and plays in the Pacific West Conference with Dixie State.

Southern Virginia is transitioning from a mix of programs in the USCAA and NAIA to NCAA Division III and joins the Capital Athletic Conference in 2013.

The Mormon 6 would be a truly unique conference. Let's hope the 7 Catholic schools in the WCC don't decide to pull out and form a Western Catholic 7 conference.

I think Rock needs to preface these types of columns with some type of disclaimer; "The following column is a joke, people. J-O-K-E. As in, I'm not being serious. AT ALL. This should be obvious to all but the most confused souls reading."

I always wonder how stories from The Onion seem to end up being accepted as real news, but I guess lots of people were born lacking a functioning "fertilizer" detector.

Most of the Catholic schools don't have the resources to join the Catholic schools that are pulling out of the Big East, but Gonzaga has already expressed an interest in joining them.

1. To me this seems like it would be a huge financial burden to the Zags traveling cross country for all of the minor sports, but conference realignment has brought stranger outcomes.

2. If the Zags can make it work, and pull out of the WCC to join the Catholic 7, BYU better find a new conference fast. Any appeal of the WCC is gone if Gonzaga leaves.

Brad, you can also add the Provo 22nd ward Elder's Quorum to your list to join the new Mormon conference. I hear they are pretty good and most are students. :)

I'm always mad at myself everytime I read a Rock article. They are always silly and add nothing to what should be a serious newspaper.

Got a kick out of the "Mormon-6" basketball conference. If the teams in my neighborhood are any indication, it might end up looking more like the WWF than the NCAA.

What's a "Stake," as in "Stake All-Stars"?

"Would BYU ever drop football?"

Of course. If the Church said so, Coach Mendenhall would be looking.

Case in point: the former Ricks College, now football-less BYU Idaho.

Another lam attempt at humor. Please Brad Rock, give up the comedy routine.

Before you all totally disregard Rock's idea...I say we let the Stake All Star team he referenced go against Portland, San Diego, Pepperdine and SF...of they win .500...I say the Mormon 6 has merit.

Still Blue after all these years.

Now I know why every time I write some silly comments (a bit light minded at times)DN sends me a "comment rejected". I guess they don't want anybody sillier than the Rock. LOL!

I'm always happy at myself everytime I read a Rock article. They are always silly and add something needed to what is a serious newspaper.
