I thinkthat many bowls waters down the accomplishment. Like winning a state championship with 6 teams in the division. 6 and 6 and can still go to a bowl game that is half full. Were is the accomplishment there?
I love being in a BCS conference, where every week you're fightin for the Rose Bowl.
I agree with Robinson - - even the Grandaddy of 'em All (Rose Bowl) is pathetic. With the Badger's coach vacating Madison, Wisconsin will have an enjoyable week in Pasadena, but they will get steamrolled by Stanford. Stanford would likely do well against either team in the BCS Championship game. I'd rather see them play Florida or Georgia . . . and its just too bad Ohio State cheated and got punished the way they did because the Buckeyes would be an interesting matchup in the Rose Bowl too.
Utah was "fightin for the Rose Bowl" every week the same way I'm fighting for my company's CEO job. Maybe if I just believe in myself a little more . .
I love the bowls. It is great to see teams get to go and just because you don't care about a number of teams, doesn't mean that there aren't a lot of fans of those teams that do.
This is the same type of argument that used to be leveled against BYU or Utah going to bowls. Most of the country didn't (and don't) care about them and didn't think they were that good.
>>>This is where the train leaves the tracks. Thanks to the BCS, we have: No. 15 Northern Illinois meeting No. 12 Florida State in the Orange Bowl; No. 21 Louisville meeting No. 3 Florida in the Sugar Bowl; and unranked 8-5 Wisconsin against No. 6 Stanford in the Rose Bowl.
I think those are great matchups. It is great to see the MAC in a BCS bowl. The Rose Bowl has almost always matched the Big Ten and Pac-X champion and still does--that isn't a BCS thing. The Sugar Bowl is a great environment--I was there for Utah beating Alabama and Louisville could do the same against Florida.
Hilarious. They have so many bowls they had to come up with a contingency to put teams with only 5 wins in some of the slots.
In addition, the payout for some these bowls, while sounding impressive, actually comes from selling overpriced tickets to the game. It isn't all guaranteed. It can be a tough sell convincing people to shell hundreds of dollars for airline tickets and a hotel room to watch you're unranked team play some other unranked team in the Super-Saver-Rent-A-Car Fight Stupidity Bowl.
Chris B- Yeah, that was a hard fought battle against Colorado for the Rose Bowl. Who will your opponent be?
