The MANDATE is the devil in this bill. How can the government FORCE me to
purchase an insurance that I CANNOT AFFORD? They don't know my financial
obligations or my budget, yet I'll be "punished" with a tax for not
earning enough money to purchase health insurance? What is the
government's idea of "affordable", anyway. All of those in
Congress are wealthy and can "afford" ANYTHING. Is is 25% of one's
income for premiums? 30%? 45%? There is no definition of "affordable"
in any of the "Obamacare" 2000+ pages. My idea of affordable is
different that someone earning twice as much as my family! That's common
sense-PERIOD.BC/BS offers my family insurance at $437 per month,
with a $10,000 decuctible. That's $5200 per year for NOTHING. I get
nothing until I've spent over $10,000. The premium's are MORE than
25% of our yearly income. Is that the government's idea of
To "airnaut" why don't you sign your wife up for insurance now so
that she can be covered? Most insurance policies have a 6 month to 1 year
waiting period before they will begin to cover pre-existing conditions.Don't you love your wife enough to get her health insurance?
"Unless Congress decides to extend it."That's almost a
funny statement (from the article). It's nearly impossible to name any fees
or taxes Congress has previously imposed that don't continue and
continue... basically forever. There are programs, fees and taxes imposed during
WWII that were supposed to expire at the end of that war that continue to this
day. Congress simply can't find enough ways to tax constituents. Hence, the
over trillion dollar per year deficits we currently suffer with. I'm
willing to wager a huge sum of money that this fee does not end when it is
currently scheduled to. I wouldn't even consider it a gamble... sadly,
it's a sure thing.
Now I would expect business to pass on this extra business expense of
$63/employee per year to their customers. But I hope that Obama will price fix
every industry and business in America so that businesses are not allowed to
raise their prices. Wouldn't that be fair? Not only tax those rich
business CEOs, but also protect consumers by controlling prices through
centralized government management.I think the same should be true
for housing, education, careers, etc. The government could assign apartments
and housing units to people based on a simple system of corruption. Then
government could also assign students the responsibility of studying certain
things, and assuring them a job in certain markets.I hope that Obama
will buy my gas, and pay my mortgage soon. I want to be like Jane where the
government plays a part in every aspect and period of my life from cradle to
grave. I totally buy into this Obama thing. I like it.
What people don't seem to realize that the savings and benefits to society
of allowing people with pre-existing conditions to receive health benefits is
enormous compared to this small surcharge. Many with the proper health care who
have pre-existing conditions such as asthma or a heart condition can lead long
and productivity (tax producing) lives that in the long run can keep many people
from even great expensive, specialized hospitalization or lingering, terrible
deaths. As a developed country we owe it to ourselves (someday in the future)
and those of our neighbors the same health benefits as any human being deserves.
One of the biggest problems is the extraordinary care we Americans to go to
stay alive at any cost, even without regard to the quality of life.
I thought BO said Obamacare would REDUCE the cost of healthcare. Another lie from the Chicago cabal.businesses will start doing
what some owners of Olive Garden restaurants said they will do - move all their
employees to part time so they are below the 50 employee number where they have
to provide insurance. Then the working folks will go from 40 hours a week
employment with no health insurance to 30 hours a week with no health insurance.
But somehow the dems will say they are better off because of Obamacare.airnaut,I do not know where jsf came up with his number, but it
will be more than the $63 you cite if you eat out or patronize any of the
businesses who said they will impose Obamacare premiums on their prices.
Whether paid direct or indirectly, Obamacre will end up costing us all more.
I'm sorry your wife has a health issue - I hope she is able to manage it.
Fritz said: "More and more businesses will find this, along with the many
other fees and taxes Obamacare carries, and they will start dropping health
insurance altogether, or they will put more of the healthcare costs on the
employees backs. Either way, the employee is going to pay for Obamacare and it
is not going to be cheap."Like that hasn't been happening
for the last 10 years?I only wish we had gone with the one payer
plan instead of this (Heritage Foundation) Republican plan.
jsfCenterville, UTand there you have it, a new tax on the middle
class, average household of $252.00 per year. ==============
jsf -- Please sight were you came up with these phoney
bogus numbers. It was no where in the article.I can only assume
you are multiplying and using a per household number of 4.This was
quoted, "It set the per capita rate at $5.25 per month, which works
out to $63 a year."FYI -- BooHooI'll be happy
to pay $20 a month to see to it that my WIFE [who has a pre-exisiting medical
condition] can finally have access.
"...don't be surprised if democrats start seeing the errors of their
ways..."One of the best laughs of the day.
Hang on everyone. This is just one of many more surprises yet to come. With
Obamacare being over 2,000 pages long, there are lots of these types of
surprises yet to come. And there are more surprises, like the taxes that will
hit businesses, yet they have nothing to do with health care, other than they
are a mechanism to fund Obama's Health Care mandates.More and
more businesses will find this, along with the many other fees and taxes
Obamacare carries, and they will start dropping health insurance altogether, or
they will put more of the healthcare costs on the employees backs. Either way,
the employee is going to pay for Obamacare and it is not going to be cheap. This whole mess needs to be repealed and Congress needs to start over.
Over the next few months, don't be surprised if democrats start seeing the
errors of their ways and repeal this mess.
and there you have it, a new tax on the middle class, average household of
$252.00 per year. Thank you Obama care. Then the percent hike on your policy
for 2013, another tax on the middle class. And they are just going to keep on
