Te'o and the Irish needs a miracle against the Tides. Then again, anything can happen in college football. It would be ideal if Oklahoma beat Texas A&M in their bowl game and Notre Dame beat Alabama for the NC with Te'o having another breakout performance, then he can feel vindicated and at peace with himself for not winning the Heisman.
Go Irish!
Sad for Manti. He was caught in a Heisman voter quandry, whether to award the first freshman or award the first defensive player. We use to complain that the award had become a career award rather than an award for the best season. Apparently, it became an award for the best game when Johnny beat Bama.
There needs to be two Heisman trophys each year, an offense and a defense trophy awarded, or just call it the best offensive player trophy. We've been down this road before, so I think this will never get fixed.
Miracles can happen - but I would bet on it. I believe that ND has just had a "lucky" year and Bama is going to reveal them for the mediocore team I believe them to be. This will be a bitter sweet game for me as I hope they both loose; don't like ND or the SEC.
I have to agree with his coach when he said that they ought to just call it the best "offensive" player since they hardly everr vote for a defensive player. After watching him play this year, he was a beast and should have won. Hope you can beat Alabama.
I think Notre Dame has a better chance winning the national championship without the distraction of having a Heisman Trophy winner on the team.
It will be ideal if Notre Dame and Texas A&M both win. One niece's husband is employed by Texas A&M athletic department and her sister's husband is a rabid Notre Dame fan.
go ALABAMA beat the irish and Manti
When Notre Dame has needed to be lucky, they've been lucky. When they've needed to be good, they've been good. They've been well coached, well schemed and well disciplined.
Personally I'm thinking of, what was it, 2008 Alabama? Yeah, something like that. For today, the Irish are my second favorite team. No, third. Gotta respect Utah State.
Go Cougs! Go Aggs! Go Irish.
Call me crazy; I think Notre Dame is going to beat Alabama. I agree with Y Grad/Y Dad. They have made things work in every instance when they shouldn't have, and now they have that one shot when people don't think they will win. Why does this remind me of the Utah team that also coincidentally beat Alabama?
Another vote for splitting into 2 Heisman awards, one offensive, one defensive. Then we can start working on splitting into 4, so the linemen can get in on the fun!
Go Irish! Go Manti... he is a great story. Too bad DN didn't cover him more.... 85 tackles... only two misses all season. I look forward to reading about him next year on Sundays.
