It saddens me that Mr. Webb says President Obama "is on track to destroy the
country for our children and grandchildren." I don't think America is
on track to be destroyed, and if it were, it would not be because of President
Obama, but because of the choices and actions of Americans as a whole. America
is fine. We have some obstacles to overcome, so let's work together to
overcome them instead of succumbing to negativity.Mr. Webb, I
understand you are discouraged that your candidate lost. But life will go on,
and there will be other elections. As someone who shapes opinion, please try to
avoid phrases like "destroy the country" unless you really mean it. Your
comments about Mr. Dabakis and President Obama make you sound cranky.
Signing a pledge to not raise taxes, period, is irresponsible & a sure
ticket to bankruptcy. To start 2 long wars that cost billion per day & not
pay for them is foolish. This would be like your family deciding to apply for as
many credit cards as you can get, max them all out & have no increase in
personal income to pay your charges. I don't like paying higher taxes, but
I also don't like our govt. (thanks GWB) wasting a budget surplus and
running up a huge deficit. Face it- Republicans got us into this economic mess.
Blaming Obama is just dishonest misdirection. Utah is the most Republican
controlled state in the country. Tell me why we consistently (no matter
who's in the White House) have the highest bankruptcy rates, foreclosure
rates and the lowest education scores? Dang Obama!
