Great article! I think this should have been written before Black Friday. I wonder how many people have buyer regret about all the stuff they bought on impulse buying last weekend. My rule: If I can't pay off the charges on my credit card every month in full, I don't put an item on it that will make me go into debt and carry a balance with interest. That can snowball quickly. Peace of mind and self control are great gifts to yourself.
