I believe that Simpson-Bowles is a great starting point and I am disappointed that Obama did not strongly push it.

We need to get serious about reducing deficit. Cut spending, tweek SS, reform Medicare and increase taxes.

Logic, common sense and reasonablness. THat is what is needed.

The American public is about to be taxed into oblivion. Sadly, this is a case of the ignorant masses getting exactly what they asked for.

As noted by JoeBlow, entitlement spending is bankrupting this Country. Ever more greedy hordes are demanding that the government provide them with every need or want, from cradle to grave. These masses believe that they are entitled to this, simply because they exist. What they fail to realize is that these entitlement programs are not free, and can only be funded when the government takes money out of someone's pocket. The masses will soon realize that it is their own pockets that the money is coming out of.

Obama has avoided the bipartisan commission's recommendations for political reasons. He talks a great game from his teleprompter, but he has no courage to face the difficult issues.

JCS, if you want to refer to my post, please dont cherry pick the info.

Yes, entitlements need reform. But I also note taxes need to be raised. It is a fact that our federal income taxes are at 60+ year lows

WHAT NOW?

When Iranian leadership bray that they want to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth, everyone howls in protest.

Netanyahu is given the green light to do whatever he wants to do.

When Republicans bray that they want to wipe President Obama off the face of the Earth, Republicans are all in.

And, Republican apologists wonder why President Obama is reluctant to work with or believe anything Republicans say.
