But have you noticed that obese children almost always have obese parents?
Mayor Bloomberg of New York did -- And the radical right completely
blew a gasket over it.
I believe the majority of our health care cost are spent on the elderly: perhaps
we should encourage them to exercise and eat better.
Vidar, in case you haven't noticed, we older folks are often doing just
that. And many of us are in better shape than some of our twelve year old
neighbors and their parents.
Video games and a sense of entitlement.
To "LDS Liberal" since when has anybody been able to legislate their way
to changing people's attitudes and behaviors?Have we eliminated
smoking? How about alcohol abuse? Poverty? Selfishness? Profanity? At best the government can tax it and make it difficult, but they never are
able to directly change people's attitudes.
RedShirtUSS Enterprise, UTTo "LDS Liberal" since when has
anybody been able to legislate their way to changing people's attitudes and
behaviors?============== Hahaha!My Red -
that has sunk you to an all time low.Are you kidding me?
Seriously?!Republicans (especially here in Free Agency Utah, USA
84000) try to do this all the time.[and for the last time -
Prohibition [Amndmnt 18] was a CONSERRVATIVE value and agenda, not a Liberal
one].Thank heavens the 21st repealled it.
No one has ever said that government is the answer but it can be the navigator,
right RedShirt? I prefer the ship be making 'progress' rather than 300
million directions. Government should also be the 'ultimate' consumer
protection agency that protects us not only from the enemy from afar but the
bigger enemy from within. A poison is a poison whether it comes from Bin Laden
To "LDS Liberal" prohibition was LIBERAL invention. President Woodrow
Wilson was the one who pushed it, fought for it, and started it out with a
federal mandate during WW I. Last I checked, he was an uber liberal, he was a
leader of the Progressive movement. "Those who do not learn
from history are doomed to repeat it" - Thomas JeffersonTo
"ugottabkidn" wrong. Liberals and Progressives have always claimed that
the government should be the 'ultimate' consumer protection agency.
If you bothered to read the Democrat Party Platform, on their own website, they
want to use government to be the answer.
And once again we find RedShirt doesn't really know what he's
spouting. The quote he attributes to Thomas Jefferson was really from
George Santayana.Ah, well . . . .
RedShirtUSS Enterprise, UT"Those who do not learn from
history are doomed to repeat it" - Thomas Jefferson============
Agreed.Which is why I keep such a close eye on America's
radical-ultra-far-right-wing."When fascism comes to America, it
will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." ~ Lewis SinclairFYI - Thomas Jefferson never said that, it was George Santayana -- a Liberal
Spanish American Philosopher.Glenn Beck University has once again led you
down another historical fib.But when have you ever let facts and the
truth stand in the way of your agenda?
To "LDS Liberal" if it wasn't so well documented that you and your
ilk are following along into the failed path of socialism, what you say would be
laughable. You claim that you are trying to avoid the failures of
history, yet you and your ilk want to establish a universal care which failes
every time. You fully support socialism, which has yet to do better
than capitalism and only survives today because it has been allowed to leech off
of capitalism. You believe that the government is competent at
helping meet people's basic needs, yet history has shown that it just
destroys lives. If you do as you claim, why be a liberal, the ideas
are stale and have failed throughout history.
RedShirt, Claiming that you know exactly what someone else thinks, and then
listing these beliefs that you make up is certainly one way to win an argument,
one that radio comedians use all the time. But most people see thru
it.Also please elaborate on what countries or historical societies
have used pure capitalism and thrived.
the radical right doesn't care. They'd gladly raise taxes on food as
long as taxes for the rich either stay the same/decrease. Hence, why
they're moving towards irrelevance politically.

history.3:51 p.m. Nov. 20, 2012================== Failed? really? I disagree.One City did it, and
it worked so good, that God took them up unto himself. Are calling
Enoch a failure? Then why has every civilization ever since Enoch
tried to immulate it?Jesus Christ himself establishing it among the
Nephites.or do you not believe the Book of Mormon to be true Red?
To "LDS Liberal" the city of Enoch did not live socialism. The
individuals were concerned for their neighbors. They did not rely on the hands
of others to provide for the poor and needy. The same can be said about the
Nephites.Obviously you have missed the Prophets who have been clear
that Socialism is not the same as the United Order.Socialism is the
government ownership of the means of production and distribution of goods. The
United Order is individual ownership of property, means of production, and
distribution, and is a completely voluntary system.Read D&C
134:2 "We believe that no government can exist in peace, except such laws
are framed and held inviolate as will secure to each individual the free
exercise of conscience, the right and control of property, and the protection of
life." What that means is socialism where governmetn controls property and
takes away the free exercise of conscience is against the gospel. You
do believe that the D&C true don't you?
"We should focus on the reasons for rising medical"Not to
worry. With Obamacare, when everyone's medical bills will be paid by the
government, government healthcare panels will soon tell you what you can and
cannot put into your body. For one thing, Twinkies and Ho Ho's will be off
