We have a herd of these sheep that roam the mountains behind our house in Alpine. They were literally in our backyard for about 45 minutes just about 6 weeks ago. The herd is about 50% less than it was when we moved here about 9 years ago. Several of the biggest rams, with full curl horns, seem to have disappeared from the herd entirely. There is only one of the big ones left, at least in the sheep we see. There are mountain lions around so I suspect there is some loss due to that but not sure where the rest have gone.
Fun to see them up close and I took some awesome pictures!!! When they were in our backyard I was standing about 60 feet away or less from them.
