Giving more specifics give the opposition more to criticize. There are no easy way out of this mess. Obama gave less specifics.

You want one good example of the lack of specifics?

12 million new, good paying jobs....

OK Mitt, how?

...and Romney lost, enough said.

This is the worst excuse the Cons have been using.

With the Media idolization of Obama there was little chance for any opponent to counter their cover-up for his misbehavior and total incompetence as President.
Unfortunately we have a man who likes the title and perks of the Presidency, but does not want the responsibility it requires, hence we have him flying off for far off places while our country
is tilting over the edge of economic collapse.

Mitt Romney and his team chose not to offer specifics because they knew that a majority of Americans do not favor their policies. Instead they offered empty platitudes that sounded good in the abstract but lacked substance, and they intentionally obscured the specific policies they would adopt. This was their only chance for victory, and fortunately for the country it did not work.

This whole thing with Romney saying that Obama won because he gave "gifts" helps me understand why Romney lost. He still doesn't get it. Implying that people voted for Obama because of the gifts insults everyone that voted for Obama. Obama's gifts were things that Congress voted for. The GOP's platform not only would take them away but implied people aren't worthy of basic human rights. Romney saying he was for the 100% after he said what he did about the 47% is shown to be a lie after his current comment about Obama's gifts which implies he meant what he said about the 47%. I imagine if he had won, he would have continued to blame the 47% for the problems in our country and he wouldn't have addressed any of their concerns.

Gosh, CB, haven't presidents been "flying off for far off places" now for decades? And if Obama was being "idolized", couldn't the GOP have spent hundreds of millions of dollars buying their own ads to put out the truth? Wait. They tried that, didn't they. I guess no one was watching at the time.

@ CB: Contrary to popular Republican belief and the promise by Romney, the President of the United States cannot just choose to ignore the rest of the world.

Obama has been traveling for work - it is part of his job requirement and something he was elected to do.

And let's be honest - you would be just as bitter towards him if he didn't deal with world problems.

LDS Liberal,

You didn't listen very well. It comes from opening oil drilling rights and contracting with the Canadian oil pipeline.

It comes from reducing corporate taxes 35% to 20%, enticing manufactures back to our country.

It comes from reducing strangling regulations which handicap small businesses.

Obama specific--tax the rich.

He not only didn't offer specifics, the few things he said either weren't true or showed his real inner core in a very bad light, or both. We dodged a very large political bullet when he was defeated. Bad as Obama may be, Romney would have been infinitely worse.

May you and your liberal friends get what you voted for.

Let's tax the rich?

Wow! It’s beginning. A short list of companies planning lay-offs after the election, because of the wealthy projecting added costs of Obama care:

•Texas Instruments
•Abbott labrotory
•Zynga Boston
•NBC
•Welch Allyn
•Dana Holding Corp
•Stryter
•Boston Scientific
•Medtronic
•Smith & Nephew
•Covidien
•Kinetic Concepts
•St Jude Medical
•Hill Rom
•Murray Energy
•HMX Group
•Detroit Police
•Pierce Manufacturing
•Tooele County Government
•Aviation Services
•Potash Corp.
•PaPa Johns Pizza
•Applebees
•Westgate Resorts

A short and growing list. The golden goose is gone.

I could be wrong but I think worf's candidate lost last week.

Furry1993,

May you and your liberal friends get what you voted for.

Sorry -- I'm not a liberal. I didn't vote for Obama. I'm a true conservative (now mainstream) Republican. I'm just not a far right wing fringe-dweller (the current hijacked meaning of "conservative"). I want what's best for the country. That's why I voted for Huntsman.
