I read a few years ago, BP gave twenty billion to help people and clean up the waters.
What happened to that money?
Re: "BP to pay $4.5 billion in oil spill settlement"
Which, since BP, as a corporation, only has what resources we give it, means WE will pay $4.5 billion to our bloated, unaccountable government, to waste on more bloat, on deranged social and global warming projects, and, most importantly to liberals, on buy-offs of one or another liberal constituency.
Real victory for democracy, huh?
why procradorfiscal would you say anythig like that when oil companies are making record profits on us the people and in utah we are 10th to the highest prices on gas when almost no fuel in utah comes form other places. do you know if we pollute the ocean enough we will all die and the who is a liberal or conservative will mean nothing because we will be dead.
Re: " . . . if we pollute the ocean enough we will all die . . . ."
Yeah -- good luck with that. Bluffdale pollution would have a REAL hard time reaching the ocean.
But, the post is a truly breathtaking illustration of the automated, off-topic dogma and misdirection that passes for modern liberal "thinking!"
Keep up the good work.
@ procuradorfiscal: Bluffdale? Huh? What does Bluffdale have to do with explosion and oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico?
Talk about off-topic.....
And you're right - corporations get their money from their customers, and customers are taxpayers, and ultimately if corporations break the law they just stick it to the customers to recoup any fees or penalties...
but that doesn't mean we shouldn't hold them accountable for their actions.
lket,
Government collects more on taxes than what oil companies make.
Do you focus on the record profits of government? Do you know how much tax is paid for every gallon of gas you buy?
This country would suffer without gas fuel.
Why does the Federal Government get the money? Why isn't the money set up in a trust for the people that were affected by the spill? More graft-more government. I guess the Government resorted to a little extortion to allow BP to still drill.
