All of these games should just be unreal games to watch. I really do not see any of them just running away with the title this year like some games in years past. Don't know if I am right but here are my picks:
3A Champion - Spanish Fork 35 - Dixie 28
4A Champion - Timpview 38 - Mtn. Crest 35
5A Champion - Jordan 24 - Syracuse 17
Dixie will beat Spanish Fork! Desert Hills beat themselves, Dixie won't.
@onemanwolfpack
You could say the same with juan diego and dixie that juan diego beat themselves
We should call the 3A championship game the civil war except this time the south wins
@fball fan8
Did you watch the same game I did. Dixie beat them at their own game, the run. 10 passes by Dixie is all. "8", the game is over. Again, did you watch the same game that I watched? You know, when I first read your post I was a bit perplexed, but now I am laughing. Thanks "8"
JD didn't bring their A game, that's for sure...and a lot of dumb penalties. But I'm not sure anyone beats themselves in the snow. It's all about who can make the best adjustments because most teams aren't used to the snow. Dixie did a better job than JD the other night at adjusting their game plan.
@ru seriousru
Im not even a jd fan so I have no sides in this arguement. And your right I didnt watch the gam arguement. And your right I didnt watch the game so you are probably right but all I know that jd missed an extra and that helps constitue the fact of a team could have beat thenselves
"8"
No, just laughing louder. I agree with u on not being a JD fan. Not a Dixie fan either. Serious about football and love great high school games. It was that. Who earned that game? I guess I am serious on that question. Sorry.
Looks like the "Red Coats" are picking Dixie and the "Blue Coats" are picking Fork. No surprise there. I watched both games. And all I can say is that both teams are really good. As for OneManWolfPack, to say Desert Hills beat themselves. I do know that SF dominated the line of scrimmage, now it was sloppy out there. But do not sell SF short, I know and agree the Flyers are good. Like I said, this is really going to be a great game. I like Dixies speed for their team on the offensive side of the ball and power, it will be tested against SF D-Line, I am just not sure the Flyer DB's can keep up with the SF passing attack. If they do, the Flyers win, if not which I am not sure they can, SF wins close because Dixie controls the clock and still scores. I will be honest, I am judging Dixie off of one game "in the snow". At the begining of it all, I had D Hills and Dixie playing for the title. I give Spanish the nod here. Doesn't mean I am right, just my pick.
Jordan 42 Syracuse 14
Jordan is way to talented on the offensive side of the ball!
@PrepFanatic
I agree with you. Jordan is way talented on the offensive side of the ball. But for that score prediction, you have obviously not seen Syracuse play defense. Jordan will not put up 42 on Syracuse guaranteed.
I am totally agreeing with UtahBruin on the jordan and syracuse thing. Syracuse has shut down the other 2 high powered offence's and yet again no respect. I don't see how you can get 42-14, have you never seen Syracuse play. I agree that Jordan has the best offence in the state. I am not doubting that, but what people don't realize is that Syracuse has the best Defense in the state. I don't want to say it but i think that Jordan will win, but it will be a close game. Give some respect. This is the State Championship, the game will be a lot closer then you think. If lone peak can give 35 points, I am positive that Syracuse will will do better on defense. there is no way lone peak's defense is better. Sorry, but its the truth.
The Jordan/Lone Peak game was alittle closer than people think. The score was 36-14 in favor of Jordan. If you remember Lone Peak had the ball deep in Jordan territory with out getting points. Jordans defense shut them down. Lone Peaks offense was one dimensional. The QB would tuck the ball and run. I dont know where some of these people like Prep Fanatic is getting those numbers foor the final score. Lets remember Davis took Lone Peak to the wire with what. Lone Peak got lucky to win that game. Jordan will not put up numbers like that. Write it down the "Cuse" will not break, they bend a bit but wont break. Plus we have 3 starters back to help with the passing game. Jordan is a goood team no doubt about it and they have great athletes. I think Syracuse has the best defensive coach in the state hands down. Let me once again remind all of you nay sayers that there are no not one returning starters on either side of the ball for the "Cuse". Write it down again the TITANS will win on friday. Too much heart and grit. Go Titans.
These games should be fun to watch! I think they could all be closer than one might think.But if I have to choose it will be Jordan,Timpview and Dixie. High school sports embodies so many good things about sports competition. If you really want to get a good feeling about how sports can inpact people go read the story about the high school coach from Jordan that is online today. Wow what an incredible guy!!
Timpview over Mountain Crest in a blowout, Spanish Fork over Dixie in a close game.
Jordan over Syracuse, but I don't know if it'll be close or not. Syracuse's great defense against Alta and Bingham was due to their ability to create turnovers. I don't know about Bingham, but Alta was still able to put up a lot of yards on Syracuse, and the turnovers were the difference. Jordan definitely has the same, actually better ability to gain yards and score than Alta did, so wether the Jordan win is close or not will depend on if Syracuse can continue the turnover generating trend vs the best offense in the state. I predict a final score of 34-21 Jordan if Syracuse does NOT force turnovers, and 24-21 Jordan if the turnovers happen (don't get mad at me, Syracuse fans! It's just a prediction! I would be saying Syracuse pulls off the upset if Anderson were playing!).
I agree mostly with you ProudBigBrother, however, the two turnovers in the first quarter of the Alta Syracuse game that led to Syracuse points, were not caused by Syracuse. Alta forced those two turnovers. 1st one, the running back never got a clean handoff from Lucero, and literally dropped the ball before ever being hit by a Titan defender. Syracuse recovered. 2nd one, Handley dropped the ball when he turned to run upfield, again never being hit by a defender, and the ball just happened to bounce straight up in the air into the awaiting arms of a Titan defender who returned the ball for a touchdown. First turnover created a very short field for the Titan offense to score. Alta like has been said before, spotted Syracuse 17 straight points, due to their own mistakes in the first quarter of that game. The rest of the way, til the end of the 3rd quarter, Alta outscored Syracuse 24-7. Yes Syracuse scored once more in the 4th, but again, if Alta never gives the game away in the 1st Quarter, this game would not have been close. Alta passed for almost 400yds. Jordan is better and will beat Syracuse.
Ok calpreps what is your excuse for bingham losing to the titans? Syracuse beat alta, not alta beat alta. Yes it is true that alta fumbled, but it's what they do after that decideds who won. Syracuse acted on the fumbles and came up with the win. Syracuse Defense is better then Alta. That was proven, give syracuse credit. They beat Alta and bingham. Turnovers are apart of football, so stop using them as excuses for the team loosing. Syracuse is talented and they deserve to be in the finals. It is the #1 versus #2 team in the state. And who ever wins is the best, no mater how many turnovers there are.
Good Game Dixie deserved it all the way, and yes the South wins. 2 years now the state trophy is down South. Region 9 is the strongest, it dont matter what seed you come in at ha ha.
@ calpreps
True, the first two touchdowns were largly due to Alta mistakes, not Syracuse defense. The fumble for 6 that Handley gave up was painful, and Alta did not make the defensive stop on the botched handoff that created a short field for Syracuse to score.
@ Remember-The-Titans
I'm not taking anything away from Syracuse at this point; they are where they deserve to be. But saying "Turnovers are [a part] of football, so stop using them as excuses for the team loosing" makes no sense. It's not an excuse, it's a valid reason. Five turnovers by a team will generally result in a loss for that team, whether it was forced by the other team's defense or by the offense simply not taking care of the ball. But it's true that Alta and Bingham vastly out-gained Syracuse in offensive yards, but didn't capitalize on the yards gained because of turnovers, resulting in the Syracuse victories.
Total Yards:
Alta 417 vs Syracuse 240 (177 yard difference)
Bingham 325 vs Syracuse 209 (116 yard difference)
With so few yards gained in victories, clearly Syracuse was playing from excellent field position, which is caused by turnovers. So give Syracuse credit, both for creating or recovering the turnovers, and for capitalizing on the turnovers by converting them into points! But to be successful against Jordan they will have to do the same thing, and then some! Good luck to both teams! Kickoff in 10 minutes!
