If Obama is serious to help the students, he should prevent colleges from taking a 10% cut from the student loan. The Republicans would agree with that. That would reduce the debt burden on students and it would get rid of a bribe for universities to funnel students to student loans.
But, you'd be surprised at the things that the Democrats could do but won't because there is some other group in the background that doesn't want them to do it.
