Well, its down to the final four. I've watched some of the Juan Diego/Hurricane game film from last week, and Coach Monkres is right, JD doesn't have a weakness. Dixie's only hope to stop JD, is to play tough run D, and stop those long drives JD likes to do, maybe get a turnover which never happens against JD, or just play perfectly. If Dixie goes 3 and out each series, and doesn't catch the ball like they normally do, then there won't be any chance to hang with with JD. My hope is that both teams play to their potential, and we get an exciting game, not a blowout. Go Flyers, you can do it!
Juan DIego wins by 30 points DIXIE!
Then Juan Diego will play Desert Hills
Making it a clean sweep of Region 9! ha
oh my I would love that. with all the talk about Juan Diegos weak region.
JD seems beyond focused right now, Dixie is in trouble if JD is still in the zone.
@Binghamalum,
In the words of southpride56, a region with cup cake teams..... lets go JD bring it home baby ... I'm hoping for Desert Hills to win, I have 2 nephews on the mighty Thunder and would love for them to play against my boy and the JD Eagles..

@binghamwhatever
Soooooo your saying JD's region was tough?
JD doesn't have anyone that can match talent of Blake Barney
@Southpride56,
I just love reading your posts ,you always know how to make a person laugh...thanks! 2 weeks ago your were talking all this hype about region 9 teams, and now its just 1 player. I don't know about region 9 but up north there are 11 players on the field at one time, its a team effort . It seems like you are the only sour apple from st. george, all the other tiger fans are awesome...you should ask your friend Blake if you can go over and watch the finals with him at home, cause we will be at the turf.

Agreed, Jake Barney is a talented athlete. Was he not the QB last year on the 41-0 blowout? Just my thought.
Not that it matters a whole lot this time of year in the semis, but it is interesting to look at common opponents. Juan Diego destroyed Hurricane last week, and Hurricane beat Dixie in a close one. Not that there are any excuses for the beating Hurricane took, but they were missing their starting QB. I would be very surprised to see Hurricane lay another egg if they were to play again.
Another comparison of opponents is Dixie/Springville in which Dixie won 28-13, and Juan Diego beat Springville 19 to 18. I would be curious if there was a reason why it was such a close game, other than everyone has a down game every now and then. Dixie had one of those let down games vs. SC, and lost.
I think with the excitement of the semis, the Dixie vs. JD will be closer than people think, as long as Dixie doesn't get starry eyes at RES and playing JD. That's my two cents.
So Region 9 had a bunch of great teams, and each of the other 3A regions had one outstanding team. That adds up to some great football. I don't think Barney has seen the pressure JD brings on defense. Juan Diego in a rout.
Desert Hills has two teams--one that shows up in the 2nd half and one that plays a whole game. I think the former will show up, and if they get too far behind, it will be a SF win. I have some left in my heart for SF, as that is where I started my career. I'm picking SF and the Money boys.
Enough with the "Region 9 is the SEC of 3A football". If that were the case, we'd have more than 1 title in the last 10 yrs. I'm a region 9 homer, but we need to stop kidding ourselves. Stop taking away from the JD's and the Stansbury's. It's not their faults, they don't get to pick which regions they're in. They just play who's on their schedules. In the last 4 years, JD owns "the GREAT R9". They may add a couple more teams this year as well.
Every once in a while JD loses? Remember last year against Spanish Fork. In fact in the last 5 years they have lost 4 times so stop acting like they are some kind of juggernaut, they can be beat. It's just a shame that Hurricane with their best team ever last year didn't get to play JD but they did beat the team that beat JD, Spanish. Dixie has a chance. Barney runs that offense extremely well. If not them then Spanish won't back down not sure about D Hills.
Sounds like this one could be played in quite the snow storm, JD's pounding ground game is made to order for those conditions
@binghasmalum
Making it a clean sweep of Region 9! ha
oh my I would love that. with all the talk about Juan Diegos weak region.
---I would love for Syracuse to beat Bingham and then go on and take out Jordan or Lone Peak in the finals...with all the talk anout Syracuse weak schedule and weak region.
papi
you dont sound to confident when your saying that!
But region 1 will be gone by 3 today!
Dixie's Blake Barney is a good player. But I don't think he will be able to beat the Soaring Eagle Defense who is nothing but nails. JD shuts out Dixe 28-0.
I am very confident saying that! Bigham is out of the playoffs once again by a Region 1 team, so you can eat crow mr bighamalum!
Did you see Blake end that game. The Flyer soared the Eagles defense. Running past, over, and around them. Takau and T berr ran hard. What about that line? Can't say much for the tackleing on Dixie's special teams. Anyway, cupcakes for everyone in the comments who chose Juan Diego.. Respect for JD and every football player in that region. football is a very challenging sport. There are no cupcakes in football.
Great game in the "snow bowl". The conditions favored JD, but it turned out to be their undoing in the end. That last first down was huge! Barney is a great athlete and put the team on his shoulders and carried them, especially on that final drive. Way to do something we never could. Now go get the Dons!
