Excellent commentary. If we lose our civility, we lose our civil structure and take the perilous road that can lead to a failed nation.

In case some were not paying attention, Romney criticized Obama's record but the Obama campaign attacked Romney personally, accusing him of murder, hating women being an evil human being. A vast difference in the two approaches which shows voters the vast difference between the character (or lack of it) between the two men! Does that mean who you vote for shows your character as well? Interesting question!

Politics is not for the faint of heart. My only request is that the ads should be truthful!

I've been muting the TV every time a political ad comes on. From either side.

Then maybe the Dnews should stop publishing editorials and letters which are negative, irrational rants, and don't promote civility. Every day I read letters published by this paper that shock and aw even myself. I ask, "Did they really just print that???!!!"

It begins with you, Dnews. If you want to promote civility and intelligent discussion, please only publish editorials and letters which work to accomplish that.

Could we get the ban on comments on political stories and opinion to start earlier---say about October 1st?

Too much money involved on all sides. Time to outlaw and limit PAC's and attempts to buy the political system with vast amonts of cash.
