Good home and home deal for the Cougars. Congratulations!

The fact that they went Indy allows us all to watch more games each week on tv. Unlike other programs in the state, BYU is on tv. That alone is a reason to stay indy. Well done cougs.

These "schedule watch" stories are great reads. Give us more! Give us more!

I'm sorry, but was just weird.

Chris is right. If Utah and Colorado are good enough for the PAC then anyone, and I mean anyone, should be able to "join.". And everyone knows that BYU has a much stronger athletic program than Utah, who can only boast about the red rock and skiing.

So one can only conclude that if BYU can't "join" the PAC it must be based on unreasoned and dispicable prejudice, something chris is very familiar with.

PS. We heard you lost your secret basketball game! Sad if your best win is the intrasquad scrimmage this year.

Not a bad home and home. Congrats cougs and coug fans.

Really? Even the author of the story got it wrong with the Ohio concept.. Furthermore, Cincy is not that great of a program.. BYU is in pretty bad shape.

Nice series. I like it. This is why I like independence, BYU has a lot of interesting opponents coming up over the enxt decade that they never would have played if they were in a conference. It just gets better and better.

1) When considering BYU as a potential member, neither the Pac 12 nor the Big 12 are concerned with being "fair" to Utah State. And a move by BYU from Independence to league membership would have no perceptible impact on any other program in the region.
2) I reject the premise that state schools have a more important mission than private schools. I also reject the premise that any school's athletic program is more important or of greater public value than any other.
3) I am flabbergasted that you are of the opinion that the action of any conference or athletic program could have a detrimental effect so profound as to handicap Utah Sate for more than a few years. The Aggies have succeeded and failed on their own merit over the last half century.

Is it too much to expect that comments on this board be logical and make a modicum of sense. Actually, by posing the question I violated my own rule. Of course they are not logical. Look at a comment made at 5:07 today. A writer who clearly could not care less about the LDS Church is telling us the Church conflicts with its own policies by allowing people the freedom to play in the NFL when given the opportunity.

But to declare that BYU joining a major conference would be unfair to Utah State, and therefore such an invitation will never be extended goes beyond laughable. Like the Big 12, PAC 12 or even the SEC worries at all what effect their actions might have on some obscure state school in Logan.

Mind you, I like Utah State. I greatly respect both Stew Morrell and Gary Anderson. I'm glad their football team is finally doing well. But for someone to say BYU should shut down its football program so that USU is not just ridiculous, it's plain dumb.

1961 was a long time ago, dude! Let it go!

Oh I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure they were unbeaten just week ago, and their only loss is to another unbeaten team.

Conclusions like yours are posted by those that ignore facts.

BYU and Boise St. for that matter do not fit the Pac 12 footprint for sports. In addition they are not research institutions.
There is a whole list, to much information for this post as reasons why. Yet you don't take the time to look this up on your own anyway. It has been talked about many times over the past 18 months here.

So I guess every other conference can be blamed for dispicable prejudice according to your standards.

According to your logic Indiana State should now be members of either the Big East, the ACC, or both instead of Notre Dame.

I wonder this was a sign that BYU going to join the BE? There was a talk about schedualing with SDSU. I wondered if Holmoe talked to Rudger U yet?

More whiney wishful thinking from the kids on the hill.

Even as an Independent, BYU is enjoying more success than the lowly PAC 12 bottom dwelling Utes.

It's even more laughable that the ONLY highlights of your first two seasons in the PAC, are wins versus the team that you're frantically hoping would just go away.

Cincinnati is from the same "bcs" conference a Pittsburgh, the team the Utes played in their first "bcs busting" bowl.

The inconsistency and sheer ignorance of the jealous comments from the kids on the hill about EVERY BYU scheduling change are hilarious.

More twisted logic from plant Provo and its satellite Orem.
So you define continually losing to ranked teams as success as an independent?
The highlights of your first two seasons as an indie are beating bottom feeder WAC teams.

Nope!

The PAC 12 is the only conference that has openly demonstrated that they don't want any religiously-based school in their conference. It's reason Colorado was hastily invited to block Baylor from being included in the PAC-Big 12 South merger, and it's the main reason Utah was invited instead of BYU.

Requiring a school to be a "research" university was simply the excuse that the PAC 12 fed to public. Some of the Big 12 South schools are on the same "research" level as BYU.

BYU 10-3 #25/#26 (#34 in Sagarin) with a bowl win over #35 Tulsa

is better than

Utah 8-5 unranked (#39 in Sagarin) with a bowl win over #56 Georgia Tech

last season

AND

BYU 5-4 is better than Utah 3-5

this season

That's just the way it is.

btw, BYU BEAT the lowly WAC team that BEAT U this season.
