Comments about ‘Letter: Refreshingly different’

I have been hearing we need independents and third parties for years? How come no one votes for them? Thing is they take votes away from your closer philosophy. How did Perot and Nader help as Third party candidates. Take away a majority. They never have or ever will be efficiant in the US. And the Republican was not a third party. Name a Whig that has been elected since the midle of the 19th century. If a fringe party is popular it will replace the republican or democratic party.

Shannon, I agree they need to be included in the debate but when I see the previous comments from higv I see how our government is becoming more and more a plutocracy (some call it fascism) with people like that willing participants. Electing the alternatives is not reality but inclusion is and the debate needs to be expanded. Perot and Nader didn't win but they did have an impact on the status quo and I for one am in favor of it.
