looks like Grand has some surprises of their own. Come on Red Devils, stick it
to the templars!
A good night for S.E. Utah! Congrats Broncos, Bucks, and Grand County Red
EJB, you overlooking S. Summit? I don't understand 2A this
year, Grand beats Millard, Millard beats Emery, Emery blows out Grand, Beaver
beats Grand by 28 and Manti beats Beaver by 31, Manti squeaks by Emery, S.J.
beats Emery big and struggles against Beaver, S. Summit struggles against
Richfield. I don't think anyone better be looking to the next
game or you will be home with Millard. I would love to see that game and see how
Grand pulled off the biggest upset in 2A this year. There should be
some great games next weekend,
I'd like to thing that EJB is wishing a fellow SE Utah team good luck, not
over looking a game. Good luck to the Broncos as well against the Wildcats! Just
because San Juan scored less than 40 doesn't make it a struggle, Beaver
still scored 0. Beaver is tough, but I don't see how a shutout is a
struggle. I don't know about the other teams, but with Grand, It depends on
which team shows up. Many of us in the stands were surprised as well at the game
Against Millard. The Grand boys played good football. Any given night, any team
can show up and have a chance to win. I would love to see SE Utah, (the
weak region), in the 2A finals. Stats and rankings only go so far, it all comes
down to what happens on the field! And don't even start on the coin flip,
if Grand had beaten Beaver or Beaver had beaten Richfield, there would have been
no coin flip. It is what it is.GO BIG RED!!!
This looks like a great tournament. Don't forget that South Sevier only
lost to Grand by 1 with some home cooking as far as the refs go. South Sevier
had the lead against Millard and couldn't hold it.
JD you have the biggest pair of rose colored glasses of anyone in high school
sports, Millard played their JV the entire second half. Millard had to be
dreaming of SUU and forgot about the trip to Grand. Again, great job grand that
is an impressive win and shows how much heart your kids have. Everything will be settled Saturday about which league is really the best, you
have the 2 best teams from the North against the 2 best from the south.
Actually Abitoutside I think San Juan would agree that Beaver is the second best
team in the south. I have a suggestion when you have a 3 way tie, go to the
overall record before going to a coin flip, Beaver had 2 more victories than
both Grand and Richfield that says a lot. I was very surprised that Grand beat
Millard but when your at home and you have enough turnovers anything can happen.
Like Manti against Emery, everyone knows there a different team at home, and
Manti had 2 touchdowns called back on really bad calls. If Millard and Grand
plays 5 times Millard beats them 4, but Grand won when it mattered, and Manti
people are happy about it. But Grand won't come close next week even if
Manti turns it over 5 times. If Beaver ran all over Grand then can't
imagine this game being close. If San Juan had Manti's schedule they would
have atleast 1 loss as well, Manti played a harder schedule and every hard game
was on the road. South Summit will be the best team San Juan has played, Should
be fun to see what happens.
Snow Canyon is a better team than Morgan in 3A and Morgan beat S. Summit in OT.
And lets not forget San Juan Beat Snow Canyon. I don't know if San Juan
would have beat Juan Diego but they would have been in the game just like Manti.
Just my opinion but I think it's pretty accurate.
Me,myself and I, I can see your points there and there legit. The point is
it's hard to know what San Juan has, I think there really good but how
good. Snow Canyon was the best team they've played but Snow Canyon is NOT
anywhere in the class of the 3A like Juan Diego. And I don't think Snow
Canyon is better than Morgan, Morgan took Stansbury to overtime this year and
have a very good record in a good region. Atleast when they played the good
teams they didn't get rolled like Snow Canyon did when they played good
teams. In the Juan Diego game Manti was without there kicker for the game which
cost them points and if you look at the stats to that game Manti played them
about as good as any team Juan Diego played all year, and they played some good
teams. My guess if Juan Diego played Snow Canyon they beat them by 20 or 30
Points Like Hurricane did, remember Juan Diego is Hurricane caliber. Saying that
I hope they win it would be good to see them play & it should be a good
CTJ fanGood points. You're right it's hard to tell what
San Juan has, but I think that unknown is an X factor in their favor. As far as
Snow Canyon and Morgan are concerned, I will argue that equally impressive to
Morgan's OT loss to Stansbury is Snow Canyon's win over Dixie. Morgan
had a better region record I believe 4-2 to Snow Canyon's 3-3, but I will
give Region 9 the advantage as being the better of the two regions, just my
personal opinion. I think Morgan and Snow Canyon are closer to being on equal
ground than you might, but we can agree that neither are in the same category as
Hurricane or Juan Diego. South Summit, San Juan will be a good match up. I
don't think a lot separates Manti, South Summit and San Juan, and Grand
proved they can be a dangerous match up for anyone just ask Millard.p.s. Thanks for keeping things civil and backing up your points. Wish there
were a lot more posters with class.
good luck SE Utah!
CJT fan Reg season records-Beaver 7-2, Grand 6-3, Richfield 5-4. Region
play, 5-2 all three teams. I think if only region play counts then we should
only play whithin our region. Also, in the this team beat that team that beat
the other team stuff, one could argue that Grand's non-region loss was to a
tougher team (Emery) than Beaver's 2 non-region wins(north summit,
gunnison). Just food for thought. My main point was that beaver had one more win
than grand and two more than richfield in the regular season. you stated that
beaver had 2 more wins than both. After beaver defeated grand at the end of reg.
season play, i agree they were the 2nd best team in the south. I would like to
see a re-match w/beaver with the same devil team that showed up against millard.
Maybe it would have the same outcome, but it would've been a better
game.good luck SE Utah, go Broncos, go Big Red !
Me myself and IYa it's probably a toss up between Morgan and
Snow Canyon, was that game with San Juan and Snow Canyon in San Juan or Snow
Canyon? A victory on road is a bit more impressive than a home game and honestly
I don't remember where they played. I actually think it would be nice to
play San Juan, someone different and I would imagine it would be a good game. I
was actually expecting more out of Beaver than what they showed against Manti,
the strength Manti has is that they're really deep, they lost there best
receiver and defensive back the first play of the game against Beaver and still
shut down there passing. Hopefully he'll be back because he's there
kick off and punt returner as well, and in the 2a level it's hard to lose
one of your best. I don't think they'll have a problem with Grand this
week, I think your game with South Summit is going to be a better game. Both
teams have good coaching, so it should be good.
Can anyone tell me about the Richfield south summit game. Seven point win for
south summit at home against them is not very impressive. Then you have grand
who handles Millard. San Juan destroys emery. Manti gets an impressive win over
beaver but looks like the north isn't indestructible as everyone made them
out to be. I expect a big win for manti this weekend and I am curious to see if
south summit can get a win against San Juan. I think their record is 0-6 vs San
Juan. Four of those losses being in state final games.
Grand will have thier hands full no doubt. As a home town fan I'll be
pulling for them. at the beginning of the year I thought, " if they
can just win 3 or 4, they would improve on last year". They have surprised
me. I think they have around 19 returning juniors also. I'm proud of our
Devils regardless of outcome. There is no team grand would rather beat
than SJ, in any sport. But as fellow SE Utahns, we are pulling for them as well.
SJ will have no problem with South Summit. I'll take the beating if I am
wrong after it is over. They are a talented, solid, consistent football team.
Good luck to all!
