I greatly admired George McGovern whose Presidential campaign I had the honor of serving in a non-paid campaign volunteer in 1972. He was not the appeaser he was accused of being by those known as hawks back then. His distinguished combat record in World War II spoke for itself. I remember him for his wry sense of humor and his soft-spoken decency.
There is a special place in heaven for those Americans who serve in our military.
There is also a special place in heaven for self-serving neocon chicken hawks.
