Obviously the coverup did not "protect the good name" of the Boy Scouts of America. You can't stop people from doing stupid things, but you can doing something about it besides sweep it under a rug.

worship run scouts are more likley worse because they thig they can handle thigs better in private. if someone did something to one of my sons i would handle it myself, and they would never do it again. nothing even the scouts, or the military should have any problem with punishing people.

Why oh why aren't we blaming the parents as well as being part of the conspiracies? If my kid were abused by a scout and I failed to report it to a proper authority, law enforcement, I'd be out of my mind. I am the first and last responsible person for protecting my child.

The thing is there was a time we thought we could fix it by sending to therapy. The mistake was testing it out by allowing them near children again and excluding law enforcement. At this point settlements are made after the perp dies. No way for them to defend themselves. A disservice to the victim and some of the accused.
