Comments about ‘BYU football notebook: Former Y. great Ty Detmer to be honored at halftime’

It is time for BYU to honor Jim McMahon. If they don't, they will not have McMahon around to honor, and that would be tragic.

My guess is 20 years from now they'll still be calling up Young and Detmer, as they will still be the most recent great players to come from BYU.

Chris B, have you not heard of Kyle Van Noy. Get used to hearing that name... and he could easily be joined by "Ziggy" and Brandon Ogletree. No, they're not quarterbacks, but they have had amazing college careers and will play on Sunday.

Interesting comment from Coach Bronco. Why has Riley been so successful at Oregon State? ""He's surrounded himself with the right coaches." You might want to take note of that one, Coach! It's fair to identify Riley as a great offensive mind, yet he has an OC so he can be the "head coach." Coach Bronco might want to follow suite unless he's satisifed with 6-10 win seasons with the wins coming over cup-cake WAC teams. With that being said, let's go, Cougs!

Bronco is 2-0 versus Oregon State, and after this season, BYU will NEVER play another WAC team in football. Brandon is only a 2nd year OC. To be sure, his tenure so far hasn't been what most BYU fans were hoping for, but I'm willing to give him a little more time to show what he can do.

Watching Ty Detmer play was so much fun! Thanks for the memories, Ty!

If we see the same lame play calling during the 1st half. We should start chanting Ty for offensive Cordinator at halftime. He does have more pro experience (than our current OC) and head coaching experience at least at the high school level and probably calls the plays. I would love to see Coach Reynolds given the responsibility of over seeing game decisions. Like when doman calls for a qb run instead of the victory formation or going for 2, etc. This way Bronco can focus on defense.

Honor Ty today. Hire him tomorrow as OC.

btw- Ty lost millions to a scam artist and now coaches at the HS level. He's one of the greatest minds and players. Completely available...
