Comments about ‘Poll: Most Americans donít mind religious athletes’

I don't mind the fact that some athletes are religious. I find that desirable and commendable. What I DO mind, though, is the fact that some of them make an incredible show of their faith and run afoul of Matthew 6:5-6:

5 ¶And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall freward thee openly.

If they wish to pray to Heavenly Father during a game, they can easily find a quiet place to kneel and say a prayer as recommended in Matthew 6:6. The shows some of them put on are excessive and pretentious, and could easily put them in the company of the hypocrites described in Matthew 6:5. Sad.
