Well Riley, you guys better pay attention tonight!
I am all for passion in this rivalry again, as long as it is classy.
My fear is this: let's not let this thing become like the U/BYU rivalry. Indeed, the emotion, drama, hate, and (occasionally) childish hurt from both sides is over-the-top with that one. I would LOVE to see USU and BYU continue to develop their rivalry out of mutual respect and dignity.
So far this year, U State has shown nothing but class. Whether they win or lose the game tonight, U State should be proud of their boys (if nothing else) for their respectful maturity. I am all for intense rivalries, but keep the irrational emotion out of it. The Aggie players and coaches and (for the most part, fans) have been great at never checking their dignity, respect, and class at the door. In my opinion, the Aggie coaches, players, and fans have a great opportunity to define thier newfound footing on equal ground: will this be a rivalry of emotion, or a rivalry of class, dignity and mutual respect?
Where does this "rivalry" thing come from?? One team winning every decade or so does NOT make a "rivalry!"
