Last year we started 0-4 and nearly made the first ever pac12 title game. This year we're down ONE game and these sports commentators and jealous byu and usu fans want to believe Utah's world is crashing down.

News flash:

We win this game(which we will I believe) and the south crown is ours as we'd hold a 2 game lead essentially over USC due to the tiebreaker.

This season is ours. We still control our fate all the way to the pac 12 title game.

Something cougars and aggies dream they could say!

This article made me laugh out loud.

Utah couldn't win this game if they had Chris B playing for them.

This is going to be an Ugly year for Utah football.

At least there will be a nice pay day at the end of it.

Wait, do they get money this year?

Maybe we can start taking down some of the pac 12 banners now and return to displaying Utah banners again? Or are we just welcoming all the teams that are going to come in and beat the utes this year?

I believe the USC game will be closer than the Arizona State game (just like last year). However, Arizona State currently has the inside track on the Pac 12 South.

Utah can upset USC. It's true. I just don't think it's likely.

Nevermind, they have no conference.

LOL

@Duckhunter

Chris B is ridiculous, but ASU still has to play Oregon, @ USC, and @ Oregon St. It's not unfathomable that the Sun Devils could lose two (or more) times.

... but it is unfathomable to think the Utes are going to win against USC, OSU and UCLA, three in a row.

If the Utes get blown out, it's over.

I can hear the big opera lady with the horned headgear on warming up.

Utah by 5! :)

I remember that bowl game well nobody gave the Utes a chance to win it and yes it was ugly but they grinded out a win.

The Utes aren't as good as I had hoped they would be but they are better than byu. I know the coug "fans" that continually post on every Utah article have short memories but we have owned the mighty cougars for three years in a row. Yet every time the Y gets a win over a lousy team, you all start pounding your chests again. Maybe it's time you all just admitted that your team isn't as good as you thought they were going to be as well. Then we can all just move on.

As for the Utes, they will be facing a very good legitimate powerhouse football team in USC. The Utes don't have much chance of winning this game especially with what we have seen up to this point in the season. However the Utes have often come out on top when nobody is giving them a chance. That is the biggest difference between our program and the one down south.

Go Utes!

"If the Utes get blown out, it's over."
Interesting. I wonder if the analysts at ESPN think as deeply as that.

I could see an upset here. I really think Kyle is one of the best coaches in the country when he has more than a week to prepare for an opponent. No one can dispute that. You look at the track record and it speaks for itself. That bowl record of his and the record he has when he has a bye week is no accident.

I know the cougies will have a hey day with my comment, but I believe the Utes get up for the big games, and this is a big game. I can see us winning a close one. I think the D was embarrassed at ASU and want redemption. You have to believe right? I wouldn't even call it an upset if the U wins.

@yankees27

No "hey day" you do "have to believe". I don't, but you certainly can.

Game day! So excited! I did want to give a shout out quick to our cougar friends. I wanted to just quickly say thank you for filling our forums (so many comments in the utah category sometimes)! But really I wanted to say thank you to most of you for being civil and just giving us something to converse back and forth with, not personally attacking anyone, really I mean it. With that being said, I'm hoping for a great game tonight :)

"Utah can beat USC by making it ugly..."

I assumed from the headline, that the Utes were planning on wearing their black helmets again. Those ugly things didn't help the Utes in Tempe, and they certainly won't help them against the Trojans.

"I believe the Utes get up for the big games..."

Unfortunately, the Utes are only capable of getting up for one big game a year. It'll take the Utes a month just to recover from their BYU high. By then, the Utes will be so helplessly mired at the bottom of the PAC, that they'll be lucky to qualify for a bowl.

mussing- Uh, the BYU game wasn't "the big game" duh! Ya, it's the rivalry game, but I'm talking about the BIG programs, the Bama's the USC's, the bowl games. Most of us U fans barely consider the Y more than an distant cousin now. They used to talk about us being the little brother, then we've owned them for the last decade and some U fans called them little brother, I actually prefer to think of them as the brother in law who tries too hard to prove himself but no one listens and he sulks away and sucks his poor little thumb "independently". Ya, I know we're new to the PAC 12 and a few Chrissys overstated that the U would be winning Rose Bowls soon, but most of us knew it would take a while to catch up and win consistently in the new conference. I mean has Arizona even played in a Rose Bowl? I know ASU and even Oregon St. have but it's been a while. I'm just saying, most of us know it's a work in progress. Still fans though!

"most of us knew it would take a while to catch up and win consistently in the new conference...most of us know it's a work in progress."

Actually there weren't any utah "fans" at all saying that. All of the comments around here were that they were going to "win the south" and "buy tickets for Pasadena" and on and on. Your comments are what they are saying now, after all of the beatdowns and losses to colorado. Nice revisionism though.

@Duckhunter
Are you actually a BYU fan? or just a Utah hater? You can be honest I won't judge. Because I must admit, if I was a BYU fan losing to the Utes 3 years in a row, 8 of the last 11, and playing lesser quality opponents and being the little brother, I might get a little bitter and resort to just being a pure Utah hater also. So don't be afraid to talk about it, I'll be here to give you a little moral support and help you get through this. You'll make it man, I promise.

"the BYU game wasn't "the big game""

Who are you kidding?

The ONLY game Utah fans have talked about since last year was the BYU-Utah game.

The ONLY time Utah fans have rushed the field THREE times during the same game, was for the BYU-Utah game THIS season.

If the Utes lose tonight, which they will, the ONLY game Utah fans will be talking about for the remainder of the season, is this year's BYU-Utah game.

There's not a team on the planet Utah fans love to beat and hate to lose to more than BYU.

Obsessing about BYU is what U do!

The 2001 game referenced in the article was one of my favorite Utah wins. The Utes punched the Trojans in the mouth, and physically beat up USC (but not one superstar safety). And Ronny Mac's post-game interview may have been his best ever. I love that man!

As for this year's game:

I wouldn't be surprised if the Utes get beat by three touchdowns, or if they get a narrow win. Obviously I am hoping for the latter.

Go Utes! Shake off the ugly loss in Tempe and become the team we hoped (and most of the national media thought) you would be this season. If you lose big tonight at home, it will probably be a long, painful season for all of us wearing red.
