As a proud veteran of the old Navy who is absolutely thrilled and amazed by the technological advances in naval warfare, I find it very hard to criticize the Navy. Further, I think the Navy was very important in the molding and shaping of the guy I am. I am grateful for the experience.
However when I look at the world today and the war that is being waged against us, I think our military is mostly obsolete. Our weapons are ineffective. In the old war all we had to do was control the land mass and we had control of the people. The way to do that was done very nicely by planes, bomb, tanks and ships.
Today’s war is a war for the minds of men and not limited to any given physical location. Our enemy doesn’t have any planes or ships and seldom has a specific location we can bomb. Our strategy of punishing and killing the people supporting the enemy doesn’t work any more and often just aids the enemy in recruitment.
The only way to win is to do those things to help people and not just kill them.
