1) Medical device tax: imposes a new 2.3% excise tax on gross on gross sales -- even if the company didn't make a profit. Medical device manufacturers employ 490,000 in 12,000 plants across the country. not only burdening small businesses, this tax raises the cost of everything from pacemakers to prosthetics.

2) Currently, flexible spending accounts (FSA) are unlimited by law though employers may place a cap on them. This is pre-tax dollars. Obamacare caps FSAs at $2500. This affects 30-35 million Americans who use FSAs to meet basic medical needs. It could dramatically affect families with special needs children.

3) Surtax on investment income: a new, 3.8 percentage point surtax on investment income earned in households making at least $250,000 married ($200,000 single). This is on top of raising taxes on capital gains from 15% to 20% and on dividends from 15% to 39.6%.

Five taxes imposed by Obamacare in 2013:

4) Medical itemized deductions: Currently, Americans facing high medical expenses are allowed a deduction of all expenses exceeding 7.5% of adjusted gross income (AGI). Obamacare raises this deduction to 10 percent of AGI. By limiting this deduction, Obamacare widens the net of taxable income for the sickest Americans.

5) Medicare payroll tax hike: The Medicare payroll tax is currently 2.9 percent on all wages and self-employment profits. Under this tax hike, wages and profits exceeding $200,000 single or $250,000 married couples will face a 3.8 percent rate instead. This is a direct marginal income tax hike on small business owners, who are liable for self-employment tax in most cases.

Romney just keeps sounding more and more like a jealous child envious of his competitors; he needs to grow up and do something himself rather than just complain of others. It seems all he knows is the Bain approach of subterfuge and strip and destroy.

I'm not slamming Obama. Simply stating the facts so people can know what is coming in 2013 and thereby make educated election choices. If that is offensive to you, I sincerely apologize.

Mitt's beating the war drums. Do we really want more of that? If he does start a war, who will be out there fighting? Any of Mitt's sons?

My bet is that they will come from families of the 47%.

Mitt waits until just over a month left to go before trying to open up a front on foreign policy. At this pace, I wouldn't be too surprised to see him wait until there are two weeks remaining when he finally gives a speech offering a detailed blueprint for how he intends to turn the economy around.

What would Mitt do differently? Would he send troops to Libya? Would he increase the number of troops in Afghanistan? Would he have pulled troops from Iraq, or violated the SOFA agreement and kept them in place? Will he send troops to Syria? Egypt? It is easy to criticize the other guy without offering any other suggestions.

"Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, criticized Obama's response to the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya that killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans working there. Ryan told conservative radio host Laura Ingraham that the Obama administration has been inconsistent on what caused the attack "

This the kind of political rhetoric that i find most disgusting. Had this been a simple murder, in the United States, odds are just weeks after you would still not have answers from police or an arrest simply because they would be working to make sure the got the answer "right", not fast. How long did it take to come up with an answer in the Susan Powell case?

And with our foreign services track record on intelligence, particularly since more than 100,000 died in Iraq based off of bad intelligence, perhaps prudence just might be a good thing here. Is it more important to get to who actually were the people behind this, or to grand stand and make over simplistic statements like "it was terrorist". Fact is, adults try to make decisions based on facts, not emotions. Romney is choosing emotions in the absence of facts.

To "LDS Liberal" you realize that the Democrats are also the party of No.

No budget since 2008
No jobs bills passed by the House
No solutions, just more money thrown at the problem
No new ideas, they think they can make socialism work this time
No spine

Please look at your beloved Democrats before you complain about the GOP, you will find that they are equal if not worse than the GOP.

I'll repeat the Topic for you:
‘Mitt Romney criticizes President Barack Obama's foreign policy record’

For the love of pete, what on earth does not just 1, but 2 posts, about Obamacare have to do with U.S. Foregin Policy?

If you'd like to discuss U.S. Foreign Policy [or even lack thereof], by all means...

But you are comparing Apples to Oranges.
At the very least, please get your fruit straight.

Craig Clark

The debate in two days is on domestic policy but Romney might seek an opening to get in a few shots on the Middle East. Foreign policy is the third and last of the three debates but if he doesn't score this Wednesday, the final match could be too little, too late.

metamoracoug, what part of off-subject don't you get?
Nothing in your post was about the article, is this the
new republican method just spout off whenever and whatever you want?

It's like watching mia love flounder during the debate, sad way to discuss things.

Mitt has NO foreign policy and insulted allies and enemies alike.

LDS liberal: the article is about the election and those who are running for office. Therefore, my post about Obamacare is at least as relevant as your post about fruit.

Huh? You say lies? Isn't this the wingnut response to anything this administrations says? "It's all lies!" This from the folks who don't like factchecking. I guess we all understand that you don't like the current president. So what else is new. Repeating ideological nonsense and demeaning the president as a social activities planner is very grade school.

We've discussed ad naseum your lack of understanding of the term "socialism". As for the other items on the list, it takes 60 votes in the Senate to get anything passed. Since Republicans live and breath filibuster, it's no wonder nothing gets through nowadays. And, again, Republicans made it their policy to make Obama a failed president from day one, so his many accomplishments from any perspective except yours has been remarkable.

RedShirt
USS Enterprise, UT

To "Mad Hatter" tell me how am I wrong about socialism? Is socialism the government control of businesses or not?

My experience has been that your ilk doesn't understand socialism, and that is why they are slowly implementing socialism and the disasters that come with it.

You and your ilk fail to recognize the simple fact that in the senate they have not even put up a budget for a vote. While it may take 60 votes, you first have to put it up for a vote. For the first 2 years of Obama's term, he had control of both the house and senate and couldn't get things passed. Even the more moderate Democrats realized that Obama is on a path to utter failure. The Republicans don't have to work to make Obama fail, he is doing a good job of that on his own.
