This will be a first, a kid after his 8 birthday party still going by Chuckie.
Good grief! I'm mystified by the pronouncement of Utah State as the new
king of the world. No team has dominated, no team has a good win, while the
Swopes egg laying in Tempe has to be the states low point. The key is who is
decent at seasons end. I don't think you go from outhouse to penthouse by
completing your 2011 with a 7-6 record just squeezing by some dreadful New
Mexico St and Idaho teams before getting dumped in the small potatoes bowl.
Winning at home in overtime to the worst Utah team in Whits era with no QB play
at all, kind of like the Utah 3 pt win at home to BYU, Riley did his best to
give it away, Utah didn't seem willing to take it. USU has to do a little
more in 5 or 6 seasons to earn the pronouncements Dick Harmon and others are
dishing out. Football in the state of Utah has fallen on bad times. I see the
Aggies being set up for a bad fall. 35-10
Lightening Lad. I don't think a team that loses to two top 5 National
teams last year by a combined 7 points should be considered a bad team. This
program has been on the rise since Anderson took over the program. The best
part is he is building the program with many of the local talent. Riley
Nelson, had he not transferred would be standing on the side line at USU sending
in plays with hand signals......oh wait, that's what he is doing at BYU...
Anyway. I think the game will be close, only because of the crowd and home
field advantage, but I predict a win for the Aggies. You can't for
someone like Chuckie.
Ridiculing names? Really? Last I checked, the Cougars had a coach named Bronco
and a QB named Taysom!
Careful, Lad, your jealousy is showing. The truth is that this
year's Aggies are one speacial team's botched fluke away from being
5-0, which would include games in both PAC 12 and Big 10 territory. The program
has seen vast improvement since Anderson took over. The Aggies just dominated
two decent MWC teams. Indeed, the only team in the MWC that the Aggies would
apparently have a challege with this year is the wolfpack. Like, MWC Thompson
said, "It is a rare year you see a team winning the championship in two
conferences at the same time." That said, only the blind and
jealous will say that football in Utah has fallen in hard times. The Utes still
are in the PAC. The Y was ranked just a few short weeks ago and (arguably) still
has one of the best Ds in the nation. The Aggies?? Appear to be a solid team
through and through. 11th D in the nation and a star offense to boot. They are
well on their way to taking the in-state, WAC and (constructively) the MWC
Both teams have great defenses. However, the U State offensive is VASTLY
superior this year than the Y's.The Y has no QB the caliber of
Keeton. While the Y has two great recievers, this is of little encouragement
noting that U State's Williams, Bartlet and Jacoby are all quality players
that can make big plays against tough defenses. That said, the team
that will win this game is the one whose offensive can find the path around the
other team's stellar defensive. My vote is with Keeton et al.U
State 24 BYU 13
Great article DN. Chuckie is an amazing player. As a true freshman
last year he went into the National Champions house and almost pulled out the
upset. It is safe to say that Keeton is fearless. Go Aggies!!!
If you prefer Lightening Lad you could call him Mr. Keeton...afterall he has
earned quite a bit of respect.
Great Article. Go Aggies. Beat BYU!!!
