I agre, except I think Matheson is going to lows. It is really sad. Mia has done wonders with Saratoga Springs, and the fact that Matheson's friends and supporters at the Liberal Mother Jones feel Mia is important enough to lie about is really interesting. One has to wonder why they would go after her just as she started gaining ground, just like they went after Mitt with that "secret Video". They know that Mia will be a powerful force for good. I was hoping the DN, KSL, etc would do a story on how Mia's story has been proven true, and Matheson and friends have been shown to be misleading..... haven't seen anything yet.....what's up?

Why would Jim Matheson's tactics surprise anyone? He has misrepresented his "service" to Utah since he was elected. He has told us how loyal he is to Utah values and then votes with Pelosi on MOST bills. Pelosi's San Francisco liberalism is NOT a Utah value. Believe me. I spent years of my life working at least one week per month in San Francisco. Their politics has nothing to offer. Their society has nothing to offer. BUT, Jim Matheson let's Ms. Pelosi dictate to him how to vote.

The best thing Utahns can do is to listen to Jim Matheson's campaign and see for themselves just deceptive it is.

Why would Utah elect a Representative whose goal is to deceive the voters by presenting "facts" deceptively?

Has anyone asked Jim Matheson who is going to vote for for Congress? He won't be voting for himself.

Too funny, the right wing attack squad to the rescue. How dare the truth be told.
Then you guys come on here with heresay and opinions based on lies and accusations, to go after Matheson.
Then you act as though he's evil incarnate, and has done nothing for Utah.

The republicans have truly run out of ideas and now rely on "the sky is falling" speech for every question.

These "Utah Values" you speak of daily are not mine, so please don't include me in your "Value" system, as I can't bring myself to be so hate filled.

Thompson, this has been addressed, you slept thru Chaffetz running I guess.

The Dnews opinion page is always the perfect barometer on measuring how desperate the right is. You can tell how desperate the Love supporters are just by the lame letters written in her support/attacking Matheson.

Obviously, her pathetic debates in which she stumbled and fumbled over answers did not serve her well.

Can't wait to see Matheson reelected in November! Even despite the legislature's attempts to gerrmander and cheat causing him to lose! Ha ha! Better luck next time repubs! Try and get someone who actually can answer a question. We all know she can memorize 1 liners, "free market, freedom, bla bla bla." But we need a little bit more substance than Ms. Love was willing to provide.

Matheson!!! Can't wait!

If Mayor Love's pay went from $600 to $800 why does the Utah Right's site show her pay as $12,975? Just asking'?

Maybe instead of attacking Matheson Love should attempt to convince Utahns that her way is best. OR maybe folks need to come with grips, that we just don't agree with Love's views.

Getting rid of subsidized loans, for example? Sorry, not a popular idea. Nor does it really lower the deficit.

Raising taxes on Mitty, slashing the defense budget, and cutting foreign aid to Egypt does though! Maybe Love should campaign on that rather than pick on students?

The writer is engaging in a little conservative fact twisting propaganda and hoping no one will notice.

Mia's salary is $830 per MONTH. That's nearly $10,000 per year. Not bad for a part time job. As a member of my city council, I and others, including the mayor, donated our time in a town that was a little larger than Saratoga Springs. Even now, leaders of that Arizona city are still volunteers.

By leaving out two small words, "per month," this writer is trying to give the impression that she's making a sacrifice.

Hmmmm. Is it something genetic in conservatives that prevents them from acknowledging the entire truth?

I work in the private sector.

I haven't had a raise in 5 years.
In fact, my pay has gone down 20%.

Regardless the amount,
Mia Love is a Tea-Party, anchor-baby hypocrite.

One thing we should all be aware of is that many of the attacks on Mia are by comment-activists who have been here and everywhere attacking Mormons and COnservatives. They are much more brutal in their anti-Mormonism when they are on other web pages. Since most of them are gay activists I believe they are pushing for Liberals to be in power so that they can better push their agenda. Mia and Mitt are especially important in defending traditional families, so they are especially under attack by the left. Mother Jones made up that story about her (they claimed there was no such immigration law, when there was) and Matheson has been dishonest and misleading about her (in many ways) and she has been attacked by racist liberals
(not sure if that is the gay activists, but they do have some serious ongoing issues with racism in the gay community, and Pelosi's San Fran, is said to be one of the most racist cities in America (if not the most racist).

All this inspires me to stand taller for Mia, and the free America that the Founders intended.

Why should she get a raise in the first place?

First of all, how is it fair that she gets to vote herself a raise? That's a huge conflict of interest as she'll always vote herself a raise.
Secondly, why should she get a raise? Just because the city is growing doesn't mean you deserve a raise.
Thirdly, why should she be paid at all? If she doesn't want to be mayor and volunteer her town, I'm sure someone else will gladly fill the spot. Stop asking for government handouts.

Then again, is this really that surprising? Mia Love is full of hot air. She was an anchor baby, her family lived off government hand outs, she used student loans, and then she lived off the government as a mayor.

Hypocrisy is just oozing out of her.

With the exception, that I've been reading posts from these same "Folks" long before Mia and they will be commenting long after you stop your conspiracy posts.
Racism behind these posts? Where?

The Real Maverick

Racism?

This coming from the party which accused our President of being a Nazi, Communist, Kenyan, Muslim, with a deep seated hatred for White Culture?

Re: "Racism behind these posts? Where?"

As Mav put it -- just "oozing" out of them.

If Mia were a Democrat, ANY discussion of her policies [or even suggesting she might live in an apartment] would be loudly decried as racist by the same people here denying they hold no racial animus toward her.

But, their racism is clear for all to see. She won't stay down on the liberal plantation, so she's a traitor and worthy, not just of disagreement or counter-argument, but of unfair, untrue, and uncivil criticism.

Sadly, it's just Democrats being Democrats.

I have no problem with a mayor getting a raise, however I like how the 27th amendment does it for Congress. It does not take effect until the next election. She should have to be reelected in order to get the raise.

Did anyone notice that the pro-matheson posters didn't point out any legislation that Matheson had sponsored that has helped Utah. They didn't mention any awards that he won or agencies that listed him as a value to the community.

What has Matheson done for Utah?

What legislation has he sponsored?

What legislation that he sponsored passed?

We know that Mia Love spoke at the Republican National convention. We also know that Jim Matheson didn't even attend his convention.

We know that Mia Love stands for traditional marriage - between a man and a woman. Jim Matheson has never said what he stands for.

We know that Mia Love stands for reducing entitlements, including reducing government funded education for college students. We know that Jim Matheson told SLCC students that without government handouts, most of Utah's students wouldn't be able to go to college.

Jim Matheson believes in a nanny state. Mia Love believes in self-reliance.

Gay activists will attack Mia Love. Nanny state lovers will attack Mia Love. Freedom loving Utahns will support her. The choice is clear.

"They know that Mia will be a powerful force for good."

Force for good? Nobody opposes a politician because they think they're a force for good. People voting against her just don't think her policy positions are good ideas, or perhaps they don't like her record of raising taxes. They don't think 'wow, she could do a lot of good... I must stop that'.

@Mike Richards
"He has told us how loyal he is to Utah values and then votes with Pelosi on MOST bills. "

Speaker Boehner votes with Pelosi on most bills too. Remember, most bills are pointless little votes to name post offices and inconsequential stuff like that (I'm sure someone representing Alabama proposed a bill to express congratulations for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team for winning the BCS title game last year). Especially these days when that's about all that can ever get passed.

@The Real Maverick
"Thirdly, why should she be paid at all?"

I don't think we should limit jobs to people rich enough that they can go without. There should be some pay to mayoral jobs.

@procuradorfiscal
"If Mia were a Democrat, ANY discussion of her policies [or even suggesting she might live in an apartment] would be loudly decried as racist"

And yet Mia's a republican, and any discussion of her policies is decried as racist. I can tell because you literally did exactly that a couple sentences later with...

"But, their racism is clear for all to see."

And not only are you playing the race card...

"She won't stay down on the liberal plantation"

you just racially attacked about 95% of black voters by basically calling them slaves.

@Mike Richards
"Did anyone notice that the pro-matheson posters didn't point out any legislation that Matheson had sponsored that has helped Utah"

Because I don't like Matheson. He even wrote a letter urging Congress to protect the Bush tax cuts for the rich. If I were in his district I'd only be voting for him because I think Mia Love's policy positions are worse than Mathesons'.

"We know that Mia Love stands for traditional marriage "

Okay, so that's a reason to vote against her.

"We know that Mia Love stands for reducing entitlements, including reducing government funded education for college students. "

While giving tax cuts to the rich... the American people realize that deficit reduction is going to involve some sacrifice... they just want shared sacrifice, and a logical balance, not a hack and slash program attacking the poor while the rich get shiny new tax cuts and the defense department gets even more fighter jets they don't even want.
