I remember when Andy Williams was brought in to do the homecoming concert at BYU in the fall of 1977, which was probably a nod to the Osmonds (Donny and Marie being big TV stars at the time). A lot of students were fairly outraged that the Y would sign an act that they viewed as being more suited to their parents' generation. It's instructive that many young people nowadays are much more open-minded about the popular music of the past than was my generation.
Thanks for all the years of sharing your wonderful voice with us, Andy. In a couple of months when we're in the shopping mall, we'll once more be hearing you sing It's That Most Wonderful Time of the Year.
Ahh, sad news indeed. I love his style of singing. Watched his TV shows for years, always bought the Christmas albums he made and watched the Christmas shows. He will be missed by many people, across more than one generation. Condolences to his family.
What's with the sub-headline about the Osmond Brothers? As if being an uninformed Utah Mormon, the only reason I would know or care who Andy Williams is, is because of a tie to the Osmonds?
Always Loved the way Andy Williams sang.
I'm sure his talents will carry with him.
The Heavenly Choirs and solos will now be richer.
Too bad we all get older and have to eventually move on.
Andy left a Great Legacy!!!
