"Did these school board members gain their knowledge of ethics while living in a communist country?"
You elected those people into office.
Sounds like you folks need to get organized and vote some people out. You clearly need better representation and work with people who will better work with you.
Hold your elected officials accountable and this stuff is easily remedied. If you folks don't get organized and/or don't vote in new representation, then you have no one to blame but yourself.
I am grateful everyday that Granite School District has Dr. Martin Bates as its superintendent. He at least is collaborative in his management style with teachers, staff, students and parents CSD needs an overhaul and the upcoming election of school board members is a good start. One such candidate to consider is Clay Pearce.
Canyon's School District Superintendent, Representative Stephenson..... What else did Draper get wrong? The extreme right wing has been left "unchecked" in Draper City!
Maybe he was seen as a bully because he would just go ahead and make decisions because that is his job. If he did try to get input from others, they may have just complained and come up with ideas that never worked. I know how that is. I am in a group right now and everyone just sits there and discusses what needs to happen. 5 meetings past and nothing gets accomplished. Just like in my group (where I can't do what he did) he got sick of the bickering.
My favorite quote came from Men in Black. It is so true. "a person is smart, but people are dumb." (I know that isn't how it was said in the movie, just paraphrasing.
Holy Mackeral! I thought I was dropping bombs in my occasional letters to DN Ed but Mr Kurt was packing Nuclear heat! Oh my word! I only hope that a number of Utahns actually read this letter.
My children attend schools in CSD and I have no problem with their schools and teachers etc but from personal experience I can confirm that the District admin is incompetent. What really kills me though as a taxpayer is that half the east side residents who voted to split from JSD are geriatric dependents whose Medicare and SS are funded by young working families on the west side and they were so arrogant that they had no problem bonding half a billion in transition costs (that they wouldn't ultimately foot the bill for anyway) in order to keep one precious penny of their taxes from funding a school on the west side. Nice thinking! And I'm stuck paying the costs of your vote.
Well CSD Residents, Was Barry Newbold that bad of a Superintendent compared to Doty?
Did you have these issues before the split? Did the the Superintendent run rough shod over the employees...
The only way to clean up the mess in the Canyons District is to elect good honest Board Members. There are currently three seats up for election on November 6th. Please study the candidates. Vote the two incumbents out, and vote for the other candidate not hand picked by the Superintendent, Mayors, and Legislators.
