The President doesn't have very long to show his flexibility now before the election and then after the election. His hot-mic with President Medvedev that there will be more flexibility after the election. We don't know exactly what the intent of their conversation other than President would have mlexibility on foreign policy after November. Japan is tense and our ballistic missile systems will bring China to balk.
North Korea and Iran are still free-wheeling with missiles and nuclear projects. Japan and Israel are vulnerable to any range missile those foes to freedom will bring. When the USA attacked Iraq, Libya very quickly took the hint as their ex-leader thought they would be next. He confessed to the world about chemical weapons. Diplomatic relations don't just happen right before an election but this is an election that President Obama needs results.
