Will it ever occur to these incredulous conservatives that the reason they are losing ground is because they keep being wrong about stuff? Do they realize that stoking irrational fear and hatred of the president, while sometimes gaining them a little electoral ground, doesn't work very well as a core party value? Do they really think that people will forget that they elected Bush II, twice? Yeah, we know they were so ashamed of that that they didn't even invite him to their convention; but childhood development psychologists talk about this thing called "object permanence": something doesn't have to be right in front of your face for you to know that it exists. The GOP brand has been reduced to: the party that elected Bush twice and took us recklessly into two wars; and the party that hates Obama so much they change their positions just to be opposite him.
There's "no there there" in the GOP soul any more.
Obama is staying close because the Democrats are running a good PR campaign.
Romney and Ryan on the other hand seem to be fighting alone.
It is a statistical tie. People haven't started paying attention yet. Many people don't want to tell a pollster that they aren't voting for Obama for fear of being branded a racist. The issues that are now at the forefront should not be ignored due to the color a person's skin.Martin Luther King wanted us to all rise above the issue of race, creed and color.
It's okay to fire somebody if they aren't doing the job. Stop making up weak excuses and blaming the man who was president four years ago.
Romney is having a difficult time for the same reason any Republican does. There are always 2 opponents for Republicans running for office, the Democrat and the Media. Romney must learn that no interview with mainstream media will be anything other than a trap. Like Reagan did, Romney must learn how to go around liberal media. He should begin making weekly appearances on FOX News with Sean Hannity, (not O'Reilly), go on radio weekly with Rush, Sean Hannity, Michael Medved, Laura Ingraham, ect. these kinds of outlets have millions of listeners on a daily basis. Many more listeners than some campaign event with only a few thousand people and 20 seconds on the nightly news. Obama is using all of his friendly media people to campaign, Romney must do the same, or his message will never get out to enough people. I only hope his advisors see this before it is too late. Otherwise we will have McCain 2.
I just don't see it being that close. Romney is going to win. There is nothing about Obama that is going to get people out to the polls. The economy stinks. People may say they support him, but Independents are going for Romney. That's going to be the key.
"weekly appearances on FOX News with Sean Hannity, (not O'Reilly), go on radio weekly with Rush, Sean Hannity, Michael Medved, Laura Ingraham, ect. these kinds of outlets have millions of listeners on a daily basis."
MgScott. Seriously? He already has the votes of ALL of those "millions of listeners" to those programs.
He needs to win over the independents.
And FYI, there are lots of Independents that dont flock to Fox news and Rush. They dont want the partisan spin. That is why they are independent.
Mitt is playing to the GOP birther fringe. Quite the turnoff to many independents.
There are several reasons that Romney is having so much trouble with Obama. The first is that Mitt is not a good candidate. He is so stiff, and that he makes Al Gore look like Robin Williams. Another reason that Romney is in trouble is that he is naturally a rational moderate, and the Republican Party has drifted so far to the right that Torquemata would be too liberal for the radical rightists. Romney is forced to parrot the right wing party line that he doesn't really have much heart for. The worst aspect of Mitt's campaign is that projects an image of insincerity, it looks like he would way ANYTHING to get elected, he just doesn't seem to have an ideological core.
Obama has the lead because of bad republican ideas and a Romney campaign based upon distortions and outright lies. People are not stupid, in Romney the see a man who has compromised his principals to the core in order to secure a base of radicals.
The nation is divided. Class warfare tactics do that. Democrats are so far left that they had taken the word "God" out of their platform. These are different times. Reagan would be seen as a RINO and too moderate. Clinton would be seen as not being too moderate, he ruled as a right winger in many ways after the legislative branch turned all republican. Obama is the most left wing ideologue that we have had as president in quite a while.
Can you Tea Party!
Re: Joe Blow
First of all are you aware that there a lot of listeners to those shows that are Democrat or Independent. And if Romney says anything on those shows, it gets into the mainstream news media. They, the media, are always referring to what Rush or Laura said on their shows. Fox gets the highest news ratings on cable. And the influence of Romney and Ryan on a continual basis on those types of outlets would make it impossible for them to be ignored, as they are now. Also, Romney seemed to get a pretty good audience by calling a news conference, so I'd suggest he do that more often too, just to tweek Obama, and put him on the defensive. Otherwise I think the media would just as soon spike the entire Romney campaign. I haven't heard a thing about Romney since the press went nuts on Tuesday. More news conferences like that will show Romney as Presidential. In the end however, the debates will probably do that the best.
Because the "bias mainstream media" portrays it that way, when they spin just about everything they write to the advantage of President Obama's campaign; and negatively for Romney. "The race is a close race" when in reality, Romney is ahead by a larger margin. By any measure of fairness, the mainstream media has betrayed the trust of the American people by their manipulative bias reporting. It is their fault that Americans are turning away from voting for President Obama.
When the MAJORITY of America is Moderte and Independant,
When the GOP opted to purge any middle-of-the-roaders,
anyone one tick mark left of extreme right-wingism,
becomes exclusive All-or-Nothing,
uncompromising even within itself,
goes on a puritian Witch-hunt and puts anyone suspect of "Liberalism" or "Socialism" on ideological public Withtrials publically shaming them using symbolic stocks, scarlet letters, and ceremonial public hangings or drownings...
I'd YES, the GOP needs to do a little soul searching.

Bryan Fischer: “If Barack Obama wins this election, the Republican Party as we know it is finished. It is dead, it is toast, you can stick a fork in it.”
For that which we are about to receive, we give thanks. Amen.
Just last week, Romney flip-flopped three times in a single day on coverage for pre-existing conditions. As soon as he says anything that the far-right fringe of his party finds disconcerting, he immediately takes it back.
Be your own man, Mitt. Tell us what you really plan to do. You'll never win by being all things to all people.
He is winning if we kept score like the pollsters and padded polls with an over sampling of hopers romneybwould be ahead 15 pts in the polls..........Obama is a disaster economically and his foreign policy kills Americans
If you want to find out what the liberal media doesnt report........check a newspaper across the pond......unlike the AP, they report facts and truth! Why the Dnews Prints AP lies I will never understand!
To the poster who noted, "Democrats are so far left that they had taken the word "God" out of their platform." I invite you to do a text search of the Constitution, I surmise you will be shocked to find the word "God" does not appear in that original platform document either.
The media. The Internet has shown us just how much the media has affected our politics in this country. So many stories are only being told locally as AP type news wires are only publishing stories that further their agenda.
We have a lack of honest journalism in this country. GOP activists are not very active. Obama should be an easy target for them.
It is going to be tough to wake up and be a republican on Wednesday November 7th. LDS Liberal is right. The republicans unwillingness to include anyone that is even slightly moderate is what is costing them the election. They take extreme positions, on everything, and then they blame the media for their lack of success. There lack of success has nothing to do with the media it has to do with America not buying their policies. There own Presidential candidates in the last two elections don't even buy their policies. Governor Romney would have won this election going away, but Mitt Romney who has had to take on the Grover Nordquist, tea party hard line is going to lose, not because of the media, but because most Americans reject the far right radical line of thinking.
