It sure has been a quiet week. Several Ute fans have been MIA this week.

Amazing what losing to a WAC team does to the Ute fanbase.

Riley and company are going to toast whoever Whit 'trots' out tomorrow.

Sammy, imagine what two losses to "wacky" teams will do to their fans.

Don't really care what the score will be as long as it's a win for the Cougs. That nasty after taste from last year's 54-10 debacle must be erased for good. Looking forward to a great game tonight.

Go Cougs!

Really miss living in Utah and the hype before a BYU/Utah game... it never changes! BYU 24 - Utah 13

My favorite grumpy follower from the 100 Acre Woods aka Phoenix... I can tell that you are not happy with your Utes. No one is after last week.

Unlike many "fans" I'm here whether my team wins or loses. I've eaten crow before. In the spirit of fun and the rivalry I don't take these things too seriously.

The bigger question is if you and your friends will be here if the Utes lose. Since last week, the frantic and emotional side of several Ute fans has been exposed as that of two year olds or rather, shall we say... fair weather / bandwagon fans. LOL

Nothing more enjoyable than seeing proud, haughty and arrogant 'big boy' conference type Ute "fans" deflate their egos as they curl up into the fetal position after a WAC whooping. Thanks Aggies! (and good luck against Wisconsin!)

But it can happen to any team, even BYU like last year, but like last week, it's most fun when it happens to Utah.

May the fun continue.

>>>Choose any argument you want. History says it will be close, hard-fought, emotional and entertaining.

True that 7 of the last 10 have been decided by a touchdown or less and weren't over until pretty much the end of the game. But, 3 of the last 10, including last year, Utah blew BYU completely away and it wasn't even close. 40% of the last 5 were Utah blow outs of BYU.

Thus, the article is suspect from its second sentence. History doesn't say it is going to be close. History has plenty of examples of almost any conceivable outcome.

The fact that the teams are nearly evenly matched this year suggests that it likely will be close. But, last year going into the game, most people thought it was going to be close as well.

@Thomas Jefferson -

You and me both. I picked the same score in my weekly "pick 'em" contest.

Need Riley to keep his first couple of tosses on track, and we'll be on our way.

It will be a great game! We all should be more upset about losing the next couple years than numbers on the scoreboard. It's one of the great national rivalries, and we should be proud of the level of competition to which it has risen - Thank you Lavell Edwards, and those former great Ute coaches that rose to the challenge, one for who I had the great opportunity to play. This is a great sport, but it is just a sport. So let's get up for it, and let's be civil. There are no "fair weather" fans here in RED. We may have been licking our wounds from last week, but this is a New Week, and deep in your hearts you and we all know that Kyle's boys are up for it. For us that actually played the game, we tend to have a different perspective. We that fought the battle, felt the sting of talent, and delivered our own blows. In the end we walked away with honor and respect for each other no matter the score. So get over your armchair incivility and be decent people. Go Utes!

Utah is a team that is reeling from last week's loss to a team that "isn't even in the Pac 12" as John White said. Personnel wise they are in disarray having had a competition for the starting quarterback spot this week and not having a clear cut leader. BYU knows how that worked out for them. They will be missing both starting safeties, John White will likely be less than 100% and they have been experimenting with changes on the O line this week. This does not sound like a team that is running smoothly and is prepared for this game.

The key to the game will be BYU stopping the Utah running game which they will do. They may get some yards passing but won't get big plays and the run game will get shut down by BYU's front 7. Offensively, BYU's receivers will have a big day against the unexperienced safeties Utah puts on the field. It would be nice to have Utah at full strength so they won't have excuses when they lose. That's not the case and BYU wins this 27-10. Go Cougs!

History is a very poor predictor of present performance. In the Bronco era, the it is 4-3 Utes, with Utes winning last two. Last year was a fluke and won't happen this year. And last year, Utah was what 8-5? Five losses, one to Colorado? Hard to see where Utah has improved much over last year. Apparently, if Mike's Historical argument holds, Utah can be beaten on any given day, even at home, based on last year's performance.

Last year, BYU had Heaps flaming out and Doman in his first year and no tight ends.

This year, the offense is productive, and the defense is evil. This game could look like WSU.

I think BYU wins, but crazy stuff happens, as usual in this game.

From the article:
"Utah's defensive front four, is one for the ages, some say." Just not Chuckie Keaton or Kerwyn Williams. BYU wins today ONLY if they don't turn the ball over. They DO lose on conference weekend!

State ranked college QB's

1. Chuckie Keaton
2. Brad Sorensen
3 John Hayes
4 Mike Hoke
5 Riley Nelson

Riley Nelson would be back up anywhere else in Utah. A very smart move from Utah State to BYU on his part.

Ogletree said he was not surprised that Utah State beat Utah. Another couger said he didn't remember anything after the beatdown last year. Just think, this game is for 3 years worth of bragging rights. Yes, go ahead and trash talk about our leauge - PAC 12. About not playing in a BCS bowl game. All I can say is I would rather watch the likes of the Pac 12 teams instead of the mixed bag of BYU's schedule. But we like it when fans of both teams follow and watch UTAH every week. You get the gift os being in the same football market as UTAH. Basking, glowing, high-fivin, water cooler braggin UTE FAN.
