High school teams win state championships. Now, the Y has its sights set on a state championship too?

Wow! I guess it is the only real championship they can win, even if there is no championship trophy. Now the Y does offer high school classes where one can qualify for a GED, so maybe there is a closer kinship than one might suspect at first glance.

Since the Y doesn't get a trophy and high schools do, one might justified in asking if a high school championship means more.

The only real championship BYU can win is another National Championship to add to BYU's collection of FIVE national championship trophies.

Wait, Just Gordon, what about the Utes? Don't they want to be "State Champions"? Surely they need to be the best in the state of Utah to have any chance of at least being anywhere close to the champions of the mighty Pac-12. Oh yeah... they already lost to Utah State so they can't be the best in Utah.

I'll be interested in how BYU will establish a run game that so far has struggled against defenses that are probably not as good as Utah's.

The Utes will be lucky to even be bowl eligible this season.

Losses to ASU, USC and UCLA are all but guaranteed, and the Utes have only a 50-50 chance winning 2 of 4 versus BYU, OSU, Cal, and Washington.

I would like to point out: The players respect each other. They recognise the good in each others team, They enjoy the game and the challenge. They think the fans aren't civil. Since none of the fans play, practice, suit up, coach, or do anything more than plop on the coach and watch. Maybe we can all be civil too. Enjoy the game.

SLCWatch - I can't speak for you but I always plop on the couch, not the coach, to watch the game.

Just a friendly jab.. yours is a very valid point. More civility would be good in this rivalry.
