Mitt Romney continues to disappoint. He is so eager to criticize the President, he has no "good taste" filter. No condolonces for the families. He wants to use every moment to criticize. He is so over the top and dramatic in his response, he looks more of a fool than a leader.
What is particularly appalling is that these embassy staffers were under siege and trying to calm the waters and protect the lives of embassy employees. It is a terrible thing that Romney would jump all over the comment, attribute it to Obama personally, and try to use the tragedy for political gain.
The United States embassy is totally out of line in attacking the film. The central principal of the 1st Admendment is the government should never attack the speech choices of private citizens.
What the embassy should have done is issue a clear statement that in the United States we have freedom of speech, which means that individuals can produce films that are totally objectionable to the government and the vast majority of the population. Only by clearly making such a statement to a population that is used to dealing with a government that tries much harder to control the actions of its population will we ever come close to peace in this situation.
The embassy's duty is to show that the US government has no control over media creation in the US. At condemnation of the film gives the exact opposite view. It might seem better in the short run but it will be worse in the long run.
So first he lies by suggesting a "response" actually was a response when it was a statement made before attacks even occurred. Next, he thinks that an appropriate statement when lives are in danger is to not try and calm the situation down (what exactly did Romney want them to say?). Then, he thinks it's a good idea to play politics the day people were killed.
well certainly the apology comments from the state department are horrible but so typical of this administration. Compound that with the stupid snub of the meeting with Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu by Obama and you have a US foreign policy in question around the world. Whose side is the US on anyway? Makes you wonder.
It is a sad commentary when it is shown that literally anything is suitable fodder for political campaigning. The Romney campaign should stop a moment and consider the cost this country pays for partisan bickering on the world stage. There are times when we need to stand together in the face of world pressures and not simply look for partisan gain. Mitt, I would say I hope you discover how it feels to be in that position but I can't. You don't deserve my vote if you think this is a moment for pot shots from the cheap(?) seats, rather than seeing it as part of a spiraling problem that has been made worse by the myopic actions of others such as Bush/Cheney and their cronies. Just as 9/11 this is an attack on our counrty not a media opportunity for your campaign. Shame on you!
Obama is responsible for the deaths of four Americans....he is the POTUS, the buck stops with him! He has been criticised for his attention to golf, letterman, and campaigning while he scores a sub 50% attendance to his own security.
Be interesting to see those security briefings that Obama was to busy to attend........by the way it is now being reported the attack was coordinated.......
Vote Romney 2012!
At a moment like this when we're still learning the facts of exactly what happened, Romney can't wait to turn a tragedy for our country into a political cudgel. Go to it, Mitt. Show the country what kind of stuff you're made of. The public has a right to know.
The press has attacked Romney for saying what others know - the president is more interested in apologizing and protecting the Libyan/Egyptian governments than in holding them accountable. It was a "gaff" only because MSNBC and the other Obama campaign stations said it was.
Duh.
@Truth: That's awesome! That statement puts the lives of 3,000-plus American deaths from 9/11 squarely on the shoulders of George W. Do we really want another republican trying to protect us with that kind of record?
And to address another topic........isn't Barry also guilty of hurting the feelings of the poor Muslims everytime he assails that he killed Osama bin Laden?
The irony.....
Vote Romney 2012
Xscribe".........Romney is not GWB.......as Obama is not Clinton.......but then Clinton let a captured OBL go free, and now Obama has killed four Americans....so yes it's time we elect Romney
Its time the makers take back the country from the takers/fakers!
Obama's foreign policy of capitulation to extremists and turning its back on Israel cannot be undone by simply touting "I killed Osama" or blaming Romney for stating the obvious
Romney's conduct is unbecoming to being and educated American. Romney has little rapport with American live or values. He belongs to his money, not to a world of people.
So Willard steps in "it" again. Typical Willard. The United States does NOT need this guy mucking up its foreign affairs. NO THANKS!
to TRUTH 12:14 p.m. Sept. 12, 2012
It's clear that "truth" is not in your comments. President Obama did NOT kill four Americans. President Clinton did NOT let Osama Bin Laden go free. And it is NOT time to inflict Willard on the United States and the world. Three for three inaccuracies.
We are about to choose the US president for the next four years. It is perfectly appropriate for Romney to point out the results of the disgraceful decision of Pres.Obama to apologize.
Yesterday on 9/11 the rioters a pro-al-Qaida mob basically bullied the US President to issue an apology — — for something of which we are not responsible. In America everybody has freedom of speech, no matter how unpopular. Is Obama the new "PC police in chief"? The US deserves an apology for the storming of our embassy and murder of the US Ambassador and UScitizens that had nothing to do with the film. There is no justification for this outrage.
@patriot
"well certainly the apology comments from the state department are horrible "
Why would you want them doing anything other than making remarks to try and calm things down when their lives were eventually in danger? It's a lot easier to play tough when you're not responsible for the safety of others.
Fury?
Clinton in fact did let OBL go.....he wanted to consult his advisiors before arresting OBL three years before 9/11...read bin laden lived to fight another day thanks to Bill Clinton....Forbes May 2011.
Nice fake!
