"there wasnt ANY place in that where it said "byu could be bcs buster cause of its schedule"

blah, blah, blah...

two words: reading comprehension (sometimes you actually have to follow the dialogue)

"Are there any BCS busters left?

Notre Dame: possibly,, even with a loss

BYU: best bet if undefeated

Ohio: schedule may not allow, even if undefeated

bottom line:

BYU is considered one of the current favorites, by the NATIONAL MEDIA (both FOX and ESPN), to bust the BCS.

Sorry if that has you tossing and turning at night, but that's just the way it is.

Couglifer: who's going to draft Utah, the Army?

Two games in and it's another "Quest for Perfection". I love it!!

Haha you got me on the missed spelling I meant undefeated. Also I have not said at any time BYU was going undefeated. What I did say was that BYU had a better chance than Utah did. Sarcasm totally intended

"ESPN seems to already be pushing for BYU to go undefeated, and ESPN is a force to be reckoned with."

Well of course they are! They can "push" all they want for their little pet project to go undefeated but we all know that won't happen. Even if they put Desmond Howard into the game:)

The cougs will lose this week and their season will be over after the 3rd game.

I'm still betting on a 10-2 season, and as I've already said 12-0 (though not likely) gets BYU into a BCS game.

The more interesting argument is 11-1. If BYU is 11-1, they'll like be ranked around #8 - #12, will they get a better bowl invitation than the Poinsetta? And if so, will the Poinsetta let them go? 11-1 won't get BYU a BCS bid, but could lead to something bigger. Maybe the Holiday Bowl? Taking the place of the #5 Big12 team? (#5 Team was okay in a 12 team conference, but now that there's only 10 teams in the Big12, #5 is not so great). 11-1 is much more likely and could lead to a bigger bowl than the Poinsetta - I'm just saying!

"While I can't stand BYU"

Then why waste time following them only to complain about it?

Follow your own team: problem solved

@ Sportsman 101,

You say BYU only has four hard games on their schedule. I'm assuming you mean Utah, Boise, ND, and GA tech. What about Utah State, they seemed to be a hard game for U. Also, Oregon state just beat the #16 team in the nation, I would say that would be a tough game as well. That makes 6 hard games on the the shedule. I don't think I see that many hard games on the U's schedule this year...

"BYU would have to dominate all their games..."

History says differently. Utah in 2008 dominated very few good teams that season and won a number of squeakers off of a series of flukey plays.

Utah was dominated by TCU but needed them to miss 2 very easy FGs to win. Utah also struggled in OT to beat the WORST Michigan team in 100 years, a team that was doing everything it could to gift them the game.

Utah had a number of games like that with close wins over mediocre to bad teams yet they won all of them even the weak MWC part of their schedule. They were rewarded with a BCS bowl because they won them all, finished high enough in the polls, and had no other undefeated BCS buster challenge them.

Of course BYU gets a bid if they go undefeated, no questions asked, no need to get a rise out of antelopevalleyute's comment. But doesn't this conversation get brought up all the time for the Cougars but it never happens? Lets talk about this AFTER you beat a couple of your good opponents.

@old gregg this is sportsman101 sorry for the confusion

"That makes 6 hard games on the the shedule. I don't think I see that many hard games on the U's schedule this year..."

you should probably go re check the rankings then go look on utahs schedule again. its hilarious that you y fans expressed last year in utahs bowl game (gt their opponent) that utah wasnt playing a very good team, but now that byu has gt on the schedule its a tough game for them? haha you y fans and your hypocrisy never ceases to make me laugh at you.and yes you are correct i forgot about UT state on yor schedule.

@cordonbleu again this is sportsman101

"what are you talking about? there wasnt ANY place in that where it said "byu could be bcs buster cause of its schedule" haha ppl make fun of you cause you y fans always try to spin anything in your favor. you have FOUR tough games on your schedule haha get over yourself."

you bark reading comprehension but apparently that is NOT even one of your good attributes. hahahaha you went off into a complete emotional, uneducated rant about NOTHING relating to what i said hahahahaa get off these boards embarrassing yourself.

This is so simple, BYU cannot beat Utah.

Is BYU as a possible BCS-buster pure media-driven speculation? Yes, absolutely. Will it actually happen? Chances are quite slim. Do BYU fans get super excited about these things early in the season only to be disappointed year after year? In many cases yes.

HOWEVER!! The point of Independence was to break out on our own, gain national exposure and elevate our program. While I think it highly unlikely that we will go undefeated this year, I think it is a great sign for Independence that the national media agree that an undefeated BYU WOULD make a BCS bowl game. Obviously that is all smoke if BYU can't ever go undefeated. But so is talk of a Rose Bowl for Utah if Utah can't win out on their schedule. I for one am just glad for the respect!

Wally West

Isn't Byu as a possible BCS buster a step down?

Usually, every August, Don't they proclaim themselves National Champs?

That being said, It'll be Oregon & Bama playing in the BCS Title. Utes to the Alamo Bowl?

Wally West

What happens to the bff status if ND beats out byu for a BCS spot? Hmmmmmmmm?

Inquiring minds want to know.
