So true, and if I were a Romney supporter, I'd be more concerned about the fabrications, half-truths and full-on lies. The majority of Utahns will largely ignore this and every other inconvenient truth about the whole Romney candidacy.
Truth-gaps don't matter, even when children's futures are at stake.

Smutty jokes? So, now the left is complaining about the things that Clint Eastwood DIDN'T say. They're judging him by the things that they THOUGHT he said, or THOUGHT that he would have said. The fact is he DIDN'T say what THEY were thinking.

Not only do they want to censor an actor for acting, but they want to censor an actor for NOT saying the words that they were thinking.

If they listened carefully, the message that Clint Eastwood clearly conveyed is that it is time for Obama to leave. They were so hung up on their own thoughts that they didn't hear the grief of 23,000,000 out-of-work Americans.

The left is mesmerized by Obama, the rock star, that they can't see Obama, the empty chair, the failure. Clint Eastwood showed us that empty chair.

We got it. Republicans got it. Democrats got it. The chair is empty. The man who should be sitting in that chair is off playing golf.

Well he's a Hollywood actor. If there's one thing we know, it's that Hollywood actors have no moral compass and they're politics are always wrong.

In what world are children watching a political convention?

"The fact is he DIDN'T say what THEY were thinking. "

I suppose that when something on TV is bleeped out you think the sound actually came from the person?

Stop with the mental gymnastics. You are embarrassing yourself.

Too Funny Mike,

Your premise is that the left is complaining about things that Clint didn't say, in a bit making fun of what Obama didn't say.

Let me reword your post changing 2 words.

So, now the right is complaining about the things that Obama DIDN'T say. They're judging him by the things that they THOUGHT he said, or THOUGHT that he would have said. The fact is he DIDN'T say what THEY were thinking.

you cant make this stuff up.

To the DesNews: You must be kidding to deny a comment that points out that Eastwood represents the Republican Party: Old, out of touch with the people, and in bad taste. Is your defense of the Republican Party so vigorous that you put it at the level of your ownership? The GOP has the greatest appeal to older voters. Gallup: "Democrats outpace the GOP across every age group, but the gap varies from one cohort to another, with the greatest differences among the Baby Boomers and Generation Y. The GOP nearly achieves parity among Generation X (ages 30-44), people in their late 60s, and the 85-year old group." Shall I go on and support the out of touch comment? And the writer of this letter, not me, points out that Eastwood was in bad taste. The GOP is not a religious institution, even though you have shown an enthusiasm gap between the conventions and candidates of the two parties.

I must have missed the smutty jokes. All I saw was an addled old man yelling at a chair.

A Ryan Murphy comedy on KSL would be so much better: right?

(sarcasm) get over it

Eastwood was funny - critics are bitter

All right, JoeBlow, let's see what Obama said.

February 23, 2009: “today I’m pledging to cut the deficit we inherited in half by the end of my first term in office."

How's he doing?

January 27, 2010: "What the American people hope -– what they deserve -– is for all of us, Democrats and Republicans, to work through our differences; to overcome the numbing weight of our politics."

He defined how he was going to work through our differences when he said: "We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back."

I wonder what Rosa Parks thought of Obama when he said that? Was her protest in vain? It certainly meant nothing to Obama. His lack of respect shows his lack of character.

How about: "America and Islam are not exclusive and need not be in competition."

Has any other President compared a Nation to a Religion?

Go ahead and change any of those quotes to suit your needs. That's what Democrats do. They change quoted material to suit themselves and then attribute the change to someone else.

Empty chair? Indeed!

If I were an Obama supporter, I'd be more embarrassed about the fabrications, half-truths and full-on lies told by his campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter, and others along down the chain.

"Why are children always the last to be considered?"

Why are children watching a convention in the first place? They should be outside on the lawn playing/visiting with friends.

Further, Clint verbalized no off-color words. If there were any, they were in the heads of the listeners. An still further, 'children' are not 'children' if their heads have been already filled with Clint's non-utterances.

Mike, Clint is right here next to me in a chair and I can't repeat what he is saying.

Romney is here too, and while he never cusses he says he want's to move all America's gold offshore and move the Whitehouse to the Caymen Islands so the ultra rich can have one stop shopping for banking and influence. Just makes sense really.

This is a fun game.

@Screwdriver:

"Romney is here too..."

As is Obama. And you can't believe what he's thinking... Americans are beginning to get insights... He's tee-heeing, thinking he was able to fool Americans into voting for him four years ago... who's citizenship is hidden in a secret vault somewhere... perhaps in the Caymans. And who has carefully moved the US toward a glorified socialist country, not unlike his beloved home country someplace in Africa.

The empty chair monologue and the symbolism it depicts; the Democrats are upset because they did not think of it first.

"Smutty jokes? So, now the left is complaining"

The left? I'm pretty sure this letter came from someone on the right, since complaining about that sort of thing is way more common on that side of the aisle.

So you are conceding that accommodating smut is primarily the the province of the left?

It is predictable that the R's would defend Eastwood and his remarks. But I'm sure they would lather like no other if something like this happened at the D's convention. As for me, I run toward the middle, so I had some good laughs.
