Where on earth did you find this photo of President Obama? It looks like it was chosen for publication by Karl Rove!
Yep, keep debating the merits of Clint's speech as this will distract us even more from the real issues...
Bottom line: This was a bad decision on Romney's part to let a disheveled Clint Eastwood embarrass himself, the GOP and steal the thunder from Romney once again, when this was supposed to be Romney's moment -- not Clint's! Romney is so mesmerized by the glamour of Trump, Christy, Eastwood, etc... it will cost him come November!
Clint Eastwood: "We own this country....We own it....Politicians are employees of ours....And when somebody does not do the job, we got to let them go."
Barack Obama: "This seat's taken."
This is the whole issue, in a nutshell. In America, power belongs to the people. Obama doesn't get it.
It was embarrassing to watch Clint Eastwood display his senility for all to see.
There have been posts about Liberals not having a sense of humor, and today we have a shining example of Conservatives not getting the joke.
I agree. Instead he should have flown to an aircraft carrier and stood before a Mission Accomplished banner.
I agree with this letter. It is almost as big a mistake as Clint Eastwood's skit.
Baron Scarpia:
"Yep, keep debating the merits of Clint's speech as this will distract us even more from the real issues..."
The real issue is to show that the guy should be removed from the chair that belongs to the people.
"This was a bad decision on Romney's part to let a disheveled Clint Eastwood embarrass himself, the GOP and steal the thunder..."
That's movie stars' forte... stealing thunder.
@Eric Samuelsen:
"Instead he should have flown to an aircraft carrier and stood before a Mission Accomplished banner."
Trust the liberals to try to divert attention to Bush. Surprised you didn't do a Chrissie Tingle and declare Eastwood's act racist.
@ David Julian: First of all, it is "President" with a capital P. The blatant disrespect displayed by your refusal to use a capital P indicates that you would not vote for President Obama no matter what and that you are determined to always find him at fault.
Second, if you were paying attention you would know that the "ad" is actually a tweet and is not in response to Romney's speech, but to Clint Eastwood's speech wherein he has an empty chair sitting next to him and proceeded to ask it questions as if it were occupied by an invisible Obama. Obama's response is tongue in cheek and is part of a large series of tweets and memes on the theme of "Eastwooding" - talking to empty chairs.
The Chief Executive's chair is not empty and when you address it, you are addressing a person, not empty space. You cannot "Eastwood" the Chief Executive's chair.
It has nothing to do with "taking" the chair from the people.
Obama lost his "right" to sit in that chair when he gave G.M. to the unions and excused them from paying taxes on $49 BILLION in FUTURE earnings. He lost his "right" to sit in that chair when he increased taxes on the poor and on the middle class more than any other president in history with Obamacare. He lost his "right" to sit in that chair when he refused 10,000 or more Americans high paying jobs when he refused to allow the Canadian pipeline to be built. He lost his "right" to sit in that chair when he paid people to NOT work and then threw them out of his "unemployeed" figures when they had no where to turn.
Obama will go down as the least competent of all Presidents when his history is accurately written.
If all we had to worry about was him turning his back on us or his "empty chair", we would have no worries.
Clint Eastwood performance was a grand-slam homerun. The more that Democrats attack the messenger, the more we know that Eastwood's message was spot-on.
It's time to fire Obama because he is incompetent.
@spring street
To paraphrase Jim Treacher: if it's bad to talk to empty chairs, Obama needs to hold his rallies in smaller venues.
@spring street:
"The blatant disrespect displayed by your refusal to use a capital P indicates that you would not vote for President Obama no matter what and that you are determined to always find him at fault."
If you want blatant disregard, I'll give you some blatant disregard... how about Obama's blatant disregard for the immigration laws of the land? He is essentially giving amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. And he's doing it in exchange for votes. That's not only blatant, it illegal.
And he's asking federal employees of the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement to also violate the Federal Immigration and Nationality Act (8 USC 1324)... Aiding, abetting, harboring, encouraging illegals is illegal and a felony. Illegals are lining up by the hundreds of thousands to get their amnesty papers and the federal employees happily handing them out are performing felonious acts.
@one old man: "It was embarrassing to watch Clint Eastwood display his senility for all to see."
Let's see how well you're doing at 82.
'You gotta ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk?'
To the Monitor: What's wrong with my post? Is is Clint Eastwood's quote? That's a famous quote. I think if you check, you'll find it in your news paper somewhere.
Nobody's vote is going to be changed by this story today, any more than the story about Ryan saying he ran a marathon in three hours. It's sideshow stuff, except with a lot of anger.
I would guess that no matter what the President did or said, you would call it a misstep.
@ spring street
For what it's worth, the Chicago Manual of Style doesn't capitalize the "P" unless it directly precedes a name, as in President Abraham Lincoln. The AP style guide, which is generally a lot looser on capitals than Chicago, probably wouldn't cap it either. It has nothing to do with respect. It's simply a matter of what the style guide says. What drives me crazy is when the newspaper editors remove a perfectly good serial comma from a sentence. Now that's disrespect!
Let me guess, you outsource picture choosing to the RNC, Carl Rove office?
An article about a chair comment.....
How very partisan and dishonest.
