RE: The Hidden Temple in John 17. In O.T. God personally revealed his true name Yhwh. generally Anglicized as Jehovah. True, but
From LDS revelation, we learn that Jehovah is the English form of the actual name by which the Lord Jesus was known ANCIETLY (D&C 110:3 ,Jehovah appears to JS, ‘Abraham 2:8 ‘,My is name is Jehovah) 788 Mormon Doctrine. s/b YHWH, JS was unaware of the poor KJV and didn’t know the Personal name of God(LORD)YHWH.

RE: … God(Elohim) said unto Moses,” I am( Ego eimi ,*the BEING)… Ex 3:14 Septuagint.
Jesus knew Jewish leaders would consider it blasphemy to answer this question by declaring his own deity.… , Are you then the Son of God? And he said unto them, You say that ”I am”(Ego eimi= *the Being.(Luke 22:70 Greek N.T..

RE: the “one Son” (*monogenos, John 1:14). the glory of the (*monogenes)“one and only Son,”(John 1:14 NIV).
No one has ever seen God, but God the(*monogenes) “One and Only”...(John 1:18 NIV)

Well, that clears it up...

Thanks, NedGrimley. I've been wondering for quite a while whether I'm the only one who seldom sees the point or the relevance of sharrona's comments. I've felt kind of bad about it, actually, since she comments a lot and I've almost never understood what she was trying to say.

RE: sharrona

Joseph Smith knew as most do that that Jehovah is title (or name symbolizing who he is), just like lord or messiah or yhwh or Christ. We all know "Jesus" is his name.

John 1:18 is very problematic grammatically, anyone looking can easily tell there information missing

The Joseph Smith translation fills in the missing data and reads:

'No man hath bseen God at any time except he hath borne record of the Son,..."

Which make much more sense, since man has seen God, and all things are are done through the Son.

While the greeks may have translated correctly the document that we get John from, who ever recorded the document did not get it completely right.

Hence the need for modern revelation and second witnesses.

Thanks Dr. Peterson & all those who are working with you on the new Interpreter web-site. Your efforts are VERY much appreciated by many of us! Thanks for being such a significant force in the fight against ignorance, deception and fake scholarship.

RE: Truth, information missing? Wrong, universal support for John 1:18; Papyrus 66,75. Codex B, Sinaiticus, TR . Clement of Alexandria quotes from it. The JST addition is from silence.

@ The Interpreter sitethe evil one [ho poneros]. (John 17:15). This phrase is often understood by modern Christians as a prayer for protection from evil in an Abstract sense. But in its first century context, (ho poneros) meant the Evil One=Satan.

True, but in 3 Nephi 13:12And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil(abstract). Also verse 13,the doxology is not found in earlier and better MS of Matthews; gospel. JS used the poor KJV translation.

@partakers; [*koinonos,=communion] of the divine naturetheias phuses) (2 Peter 1:4).Christians are indwelt by God through the Holy Spirit our humanity and His divinity.

RE: The LORD(YHWH) our God(Elohim), the LORD(YWHW) is one(Deut 6:4).

In the KJV, "LORD" is used in place of the Tetragrammaton(YHWH), written with small capitals (or all caps) to distinguish it from other words translated "Lord"(adonay).
