Like I said before Wilson is the future. I would like to see him start against NC.

BYU can't even contend for a BCS berth let alone a national title.

Utah might not have athletes to compete for a national title but they have more athletes than BYU according to the NFL draft.

Ute fans PLEASE stop replying to BYU trolls. We've move on the bigger and better things....they're just trying to get attention from the kids table. BYU is no longer in our league literally or figuratively.

Proud Ute

"Mendenhall with more overall wins than whittingham."

So the troll doesn't have the smallest modicum of respect for the man that he can't even capitalize Coach Whittingham's name.
Pretty pathetic for an alleged adult who claims to be involved with kids and in community affairs. I'm truly grateful you don't interact with my kids in any way. Just have to wonder if those parents in Highland know how small you really are?

The mind of Chris B, has has caused contention on both sides.

In all honesty, both teams are equal. Look at the record. But Utah has:

* made coaches of cougar players.
* copied the cougar playbook
* followed the cougars with recruiting Polys.
* helped by BYU television revenue during its days in the WAC, and MWC.

An apology from Jenny83 would suffice.

Having 10 win seasons by playing Wac teams week in and week out is not hard. If BYU fans think they have had more success then Utah, something must be in their punch. Even my friends that play for BYU understand that Utah is better off and proven to be more successful.

"Having 10 win seasons by playing Wac teams week in and week out is not hard."

Then why did Utah only have ONE 10-win season in their entire 37 years in the WAC?

Obvious answer - because U can't even beat 10-LOSS teams!

BYU has had as many 10-win seasons since 2001, as Utah has had in its ENTIRE HISTORY!

Some programs just make 10-win seasons look so easy, that other, less accomplished programs, assume that it must be.

I will never understand the purpose of BYU fans randomly citing age-old stats to prove they are better than Utah.? If you want to prove you are better than Utah, beat us, or make an argument for how you will beat us. Don't tell me about when your grandpa beat us.

Worf - Why are you on here day after day, providing unsolicited information? Let Utah fans be Utah fans. Go support BYU, don't spend your time attacking Utah.

Travis Wilson looks like he could be a great QB, or at least a really good QB. I hope we don't have to find out for another year or two. Here is to Wynn's health!

I'm looking forward to seeing Wilson on the field this year. I hope it will be in 4th quarter mop up duty rather than in a starting role, but I like his attitude and competitive spirit.

Just keep holding your breath for byu's next "breakout year" - I'm sure this is the year right? After all, we all know byu is the perennial preseason national champions. I think they may even have a tee shirt that states as such. The last breakout year was 1984 so I'm sure they have turned the corner by now.

If ten wins is all that it takes to make you happy, by all means keep filling the schedule with Idaho, Idaho State and New Mexico State etc. That record is something to hold onto for sure. It was so impressive it got ranked 25th in 1 out of 4 national polls. Keep making Utah county proud.

As for the Utes, the future is very bright and I can't wait for the season to begin and for hopefully all of the talk to end.

Go Utes!

Las Vegas, NV,

You don't get it, do you? I used the words of a ute fan in my post. I changed ute to cougs, and cougs to utes, with a few small changes. I come here to see if those same ute fans post here. The venom stings both ways.

Ute fans are constantly posting trash on cougar articles, and it will become more frequent.

Haha! I have to "LOL" at worf regarding his first post of the day:

"You are a great WAC team like Wyoming, and that is all you will ever be."

Last I checked, it's been the "Band of '54-10' Quitters" who have been playing great football in the WAC, and look to do so again THIS season.

Too bad for our little brother that the WAC folds after this season. They might have to start poking around C-USA. And UCF and Tulsa seemed to give them all they could handle. C-USA is pretty big step up from the WAC in level of competition.

Oh well. Maybe they can get still get some games from "independent" (i.e. nobody wants them either) Idaho and NM State.

SportsFan and Duckhunter:

Whittingham's W/L record is 66-25. That means that Bronco does NOT have "more wins" than Kyle. However, Bronco DOES have more wins vs. FCS opponents (not that Kyle had ever lost to one), and more wins vs. the weakest teams in the WAC.

Kyle has more wins vs. BCS opponents, more wins vs. ranked opponents, more wins in the postseason, and more wins vs. Bronco.

@naval vet

"whittingham's win/loss record is 66-25."

It is 65-25

2005 - 7-5
2006 - 8-5
2007 - 9-4
2008 - 13-0
2009 - 10-3
2010 - 10-3
2011 - 8-5

Even with the math they teach at the u that is still only 65 wins and 25 losses.

"FALSE!...It is 65-25...Even with the math they teach at the u that is still only 65 wins and 25 losses...LOL!"

Yes, Math at the U IS more advanced than that dubiously WACey "brand" they teach down there in Utah County. In Dec. 2004, Utah hired Kyle Whittingham to replace Urban Meyer as the Utes' Head Coach; not Head Coach in Waiting. Thus, the January 2005 Fiesta Bowl game is credited to Whittingham. Ergo, Kyle is 66-25. Case closed.

But congratulations to Bronco for beating up all those 1-AA/FCS teams in order for him to get up to those 66-wins. He really showed them who's boss.

Nowhere at all credits whittingham with the fiesta bowl win, not even utah's own site. You are the only one, so frantic and so desperate that you are trying to make stuff up like that.

"Nowhere at all credits whittingham with the fiesta bowl win, not even utah's own site."

From Utah Athletics:

" Kyle Whittingham

Head Coach
8th Year
Alma Mater:
Brigham Young (1984)

Year at Utah: 8th
Career Record: 66-25
Bowl Record: 7-1*
*Includes 2005 Fiesta Bowl"

Looks like StGtoSLC beat me to it, but there you go: Whittingham has 66-wins to his credit.
How embarrassing for you, but I guess that's what you get when you go about frantically and emotionally making stuff up.
