What little I know of Cardinal Dolan, I like. Kind words for these devoted sisters who give their lives to service of God and their fellow man.
It's lamentable how the Vatican sharply criticizes the activism of nun's moved by social conscience to pursue an emphasis other than what the Catholic hierarchy prefers. It's in sharp contrast to how the male-dominated Church was so slow to deal with years of priests molesting youth and bishops covering up the scandal. Seems odd that it's sisters that the Church now sees in need of closer oversight.
Cardinal Dolan has said nothing critical of the Vatican statement on American Catholic nums. But his kind words of praise for the sisters at such a moment speaks volumes.
