This is so cool. The human race touches another planet. One that had an atmosphere, running water and maybe life. I hope it survives the landing.
Not trying to be negative, but 2.5 billion on an "iffy landing" is 2.5 billion largely wasted.
I predict a heap of scrap metal on planet mars. If you follow the sequence of events that have to happen, we're talking the same odds of winning the powerball lottery...for this lander to land.
No one at NASA would tell you that though.
