Good or bad, this highlights one of the major differences between the Catholics and the LDS.
The LDS are very obedient to their religious leaders. The Catholics, not so much.
Remember the contraception debate? Not a big deal for many as they utilize contraception in spite of official church position.
Certainly, different people can view this as either good or bad.
History has shown that religions and religious leaders have made unwise or questionable choices. And hindsight has clearly shown that these choices have had nothing to do with Gods will. Power, control and money perhaps?
Personally, I think it is good at times to push back on religious leaders as if to say,
"I'm not buying it all. I think God would say differently."
Healthy skepticism in dealing with money, politics and religion is prudent.
But, I also can understand the other side of the argument.
Don't budge. Stand your ground.
