Does anyone know why former stater Keith McGill is not mentioned as a potential contributor at the strong or free safety positions?

McGill will redshirt this year due to shoulder issues.

Athlon Sports has the Utes predicted to finish 2nd in the Pac 12 South Div behind USC. They think the Utes will go 4-5 again in conference play and finish the season 7-5 overall heading into another lower tier Pac 12 bowl.

This year could be great or could stumble along like last year did. A lot hinges on just a few players, some with very shaky off the field issues or health history. If Wynn gets hurt the Utes are back to playing a raw inexperienced QB and all the mistakes that goes along with that. If Star goes down the entire defense goes with him and the DL (strength of the D) suddenly becomes very mediocre.

Hegdehog = Yahoo Sports has the Utes at #2 and possibly winning 10 games. Pre-season polls are simply guesses to keep the gans interested. We shall see.

With a future star like Travis Wilson waiting in the wings, I doubt Wynn will finish the year as a starter even if he manages not to get injured. Expect Travis Wilson to play clean up duty the first part of the season to get some game experience, and moving into the starting role come mid October. Wynn has shown he is mediocre at best, fragile, and incapable of winning the big games (TCU, Notre Dame, BSU, USC). No Ute fan could be excited at the idea of having him as your starter for the next 2 years.
