"It's going to be fun, to be out there with helmets on, running around with pads again, hearing them popping, stuff like that," said Nelson
Wait til the Y plays Utah and Boise back to back and then see how 'fun' it is. Yikes!!! 2012 looks to be a 5 win season for Bronco I'm afraid.
We're going to be so good this year.
I think we will win the Independant Conference for sure.
patriot,
Double yikes!! Notre Dame, then G.Tech will be tough.
Let's see holes in the O line to fill with a freshman no less, little experience at RB, and no experience behind a injury prone QB sounds like a proscription for a high risk or bad season. Good Luck with an undefeated season cougars.
Three comments, three Ute trolls. Priceless! I guess that's what you do when you want to follow the best college football team in Utah.
thanks "utah" fans....your comments are ridiculous. stay with your team and hopefully they'll be able to field a team when the smoke clears.
I appreciate the banter between Ute fans and BYU fans as much as the next guy, but the comments here border on ridiculous.
5 wins? Come on, have some intelligence. If the Cougs aren't bowl eligible I will not post a single comment for the next year.
Win the independent conference? If we finish ahead of Notre Dame, that's not such a bad accomplishment. And Navy will be much improved. Maybe you should focus on how the Y is going to do against its 3 PAC12 opponents. If we win all three (a strong possibility), can I crown us the PAC12 champion?
Shots at the Freshmen O-Lineman? Ryker may have started last year if it weren't for an injury and an already solid O-Line. Redshirting him and bringing him back with an extra year of eligibility was a smart decision. Ryker could be the best of the bunch, and is likely a four year starter. I wonder why he didn't commit to Utah?
I'm surprised the article didn't mention Mathews among the TE's.
Cougars shoud be at least 10-2. With a little luck, 11-1 or better.
Utah has just as many questions as BYU. They also have an injury prone QB, they also have a bunch of new guys to break in on the O-line. They do have one good running back who is 5'8 but if he gets injured there is no one behind him. The utes can expect 6,7, or 8 wins this year with their schedule.

Don't encourage Mildred or it will never stop. There is no "independant conference", so we won't be finishing ahead of anyone.
Hopefully, the Cougs will have a better season than a lot of teams.
@Patriot - doesn't Utah play USC and BYU back to back? Yikes! Don't they play Washington (who they've never beaten) in Seattle? Yikes! How about UCLA in the Rose Bowl? Yikes! Not sure if Utah has ever played UCLA in the Rose Bowl, but BYU knows how tough it is to win there. And luckily, Utah does not play Oregon and Stanford this year. So maybe only 4 or 5 losses this year.
I think Utah, like last year, will have plenty of Yikes! this year. But that's OK. They're in the PAC12. It's an honor to get beaten by USC and their new PAC12 brothers.
BYU could lose 4 games this year. I don't think the Utah game will be one of them.
@Blue Husky.
No Utah does not play USC and BYU back to back. BYU Sept 15, USC Oct 4.
CougFaninTX: He was just referring to injured TEs, not all of them. So Mathews was left out of the discussion.
Watch for another game changer: Cody Hoffman
I hate to see trolls from either side on here or the trib. I am pledging her and now not to comment off topic or take shots at BYU this year. That being said, it seems like BYU has quite a solid line up, but it is shallow. In many ways Utah is in the same boat - as mentioned above.
CougFaninTX - which two or three teams (good teams) do you think the Y will beat on the road this year to get to 10-2 or 11-1. I'm sure you will say Utah but curious if you really think you will beat BSU, GA Tech, or ND. And, don't be so sure about going undefeated at home ...
