I appreciate Mr. Carbone's view that unemployment is a moral problem and
un-American. That sense of community and caring about the welfare of others
seems to be missing from what is said by many political conservatives.
"johhen" THIS political conservative wishes Mr. Obama would enforce
illegal immigration enforcement measures already on the books. We
have between 15-20 million illegal aliens here taking SOMEONE'S job and
living off the goodwill of United States citizens. Why NOT start
johhen,What about the sense of community and caring about the
welfare of others when it comes to unborn babies?Back to this topic,
you pretend that conservatives are against welfare, when in reality they are
against welfare as it is currently done by the government, namely handouts and
food stamps. Their philosophy of welfare aligns more closely with that of the
LDS church's: Self reliance is the goal.Speaking of looking for
hope, does anybody wonder why Obama's campaign slogan is not "Hope"
anymore? Now it's "Forward". I don't know for sure if it
means "Forward to Socialism" or "Forward at 1.5% growth" or
"Forward in repealing DOMA and protecting immorality", but whatever it
is we don't need it or want it.
Politics aside - how many of you have any degree of confidence Barack Obama is
going to bring down the unemployment rate in a significant way over the next 4
years? If you do have confidence be specific - what policies that Obama is
proposing (borrowing more, spending more, taxing more) do you have confidence in
as it relates to causing business to start expanding and hiring? If you own a
business are you more likely to expand and hire with giant taxes and regulations
from Obamacare staring you in the face? Really people the time has come to
forget ideology and apply common sense because at the end of the day we all want
a pay check - not a welfare check!! Personally I see nothing but
higher unemployment with another OBama term and even the most hardened liberal
has to take a look at that - unless I guess you already get all your $$ from the
Does anyone know of a similar program that could provide this type of help to
someone in rural Utah, who is indeed long-term employeed, is looking, is a good
worker and willing to work. One of the problems not mentioned is
family situation, who has a spouse that at least has a job and they have a house
which is an asset to them as long as they live there, but a problem if they try
to sell. The father had worked as an equipment operator in building
new homes and things were going great, but no (few) new homes are being built.
If you really know of illegals taking someone's job just go talk to the
owner of the business or send them a letter. For one thing they are scared silly
of the government finding out of thier under table payments and most likely
would like to hire a citizen but can't find any that will work for $7 and
hour. If you honestly know of one that will, I'm sure they would love the
refferal. This is all based on an actcual hotel business.
Finally a truthful article about unemployment and what a person, a family goes
The economy will NEVER recover until industry returns to our shores, you can
mark my words.
How is the President's immigration policy good for America? Why would
anyone want another amnesty, more immigration and more work visas- which the
President wants and is doing single-handedly in some cases. How is this good for
the bottom 50%?The Washington Post, New York Times and Chronicle of Higher
Education have all reported that PhDs with STEM degrees (even recent grads) are
doing temp office work. 1.8 million Americans with engineering degrees are not
working in engineering, but the President showed Jennifer Wedell (and everyone
else) he either doesn't care or is clueless. Huffington Post-MBA mows lawns
for a living. Chronicle of Higher Education- PhD comes with food stamps.
Washington Post -U.S. pushes for more scientists, but the jobs aren’t
Johhen,Gee, I read the entire article and I missed the part where it
talked about conservatives being heartless and liberals having all the answers.
I don’t recall seeing anything in the article about it being partisan in
any way, shape, or form.
