Thanks for a great article. Way to go, Corby!
"Eason remains close to BYU football and just had "the guys" over to his house for a barbecue this past weekend. "Guys," meaning current members of BYU's secondary."
This sounds like a possible NCAA violation.
What a ringing endorsment. Meanwhile everyone who matters is nervous and not being so bold. Good luck Cougies.
To those who dont believe that BYU Football is a good missionary tool for the LDS Church, this article, and Corby Eason, say otherwise.
Dick,
Thanks for the update regarding Corby.
I enjoy hearing about current and former players.
No byu article is complete without mention of their upcoming undefeated season. Makes sense since bronco has never started the season with more than two wins
Fantastic article about an even better person. If all college football players could take advantage of what's available to them during their collegiate athletic experience like Corby did, collegiate sports would be in a much better place. Thanks for the great example, Corby, and here's hoping your enthusiasm for this year's team is rewarded for all of us! Go Cougs!!
MAFU has a point: Corby may be in violation of NCAA guidelines, even if he is a former teammate of those he is hosting at his BBQ. Unless those players are providing their own burgers and steaks, this might easily be considered a forbidden booster benefit.
Love that guy. Best to Corby as we get into fall camp this week!
Also, props to the Ute fan posters for maintaining the petty loser jerk routine. Practice makes perfect!
We were a very physical defense last year and I believe that will be the personality this year. We hit every quarterback we played against last year and sent them to the bench for at least a couple of plays." -- CE
Utah's one armed QB was hit so hard that BYU defense quit.
Great article. Seems like a good kid. BYU has had some luck recently with the JC transfers at in the secondary. Corby was a good player for the cougs. I'm excited to see if the secondary and defense in general can live up to all the hype this year.
Corby, I remember your blind-side sack of Andy Dalton two years ago at Fort Worth...man what a hit! God bless you as you continue your humble success. Thank you for all you contributed to BYU football and congratulations on your degree. Ace that upcoming test!
I didn't know CE had joined the church. Congrats!
Now I'm even more excited to see the Defense in action with CEs high praise for Johnson. I believe we'll have the best front 7 in the history of BYU. Add in an improved backfield and it'll be a long day for the Utes. I hope the trolls have enjoyed basking in the 12 months of fame. After this year, we will own the Utes for the next three years with the hiatus.
Re: PGVikingDad
Even if it is, it's a really stupid one. It's on par with the Boise State burritos situation. The point of that rule is so that teams can't get an unfair advantage or that players can't get unjust benefits by virtue of being a player. Some rules need to get rewritten. Shoot, I'm practically a nobody and I get free stuff all the time, sometimes from church functions or work. Obviously a line needs to be drawn somewhere but the fact that the rule says that guys can't share steaks with each other is kind of ridiculous.
Corby Eason is a true class act and was one of my favorite players to watch. I remember some interviews with him and always thought he was a great example of not only what football players should be but all people, humble, appreciative of what they have, but out on the field, a menace. Thanks for this article.
Utah trolls should do some research before making fools of thenmselves. They come on to sports sites and show their ignorance. NCAA rules permit anyone, including boosters, to host athletes in their home - and provide the dinner at no charge to the athlete. I've hosted two different college teams in my home with approval of the school's compliance office. So get a life...and a little knowlege...before spouting off.
It is so embarrassing to have graduated from Utah and see the stupid remarks from "utah fans" about a good guy from BYU. A lot of pathetic lives out there.
Having a kid over for dinner is not an NCAA violation. utah "fans" are an embarrassment to all decent people.
As for Corby, well I loved the article and hearing about how well his life is going. I hope nothing but the best for him, and frankly all of the kids out there working hard and trying to live good lives.
I am a Utes fan, but I think Eason is a stud. Nice article.
Duckhunter needs to lighten up a bit. While it is true that some Utah fans are pathetic...there are many BYU fans that exhibit the same behavior. The Utes kicked our trash last year, plain and simple. They proved to be the better team last year but each year is different. I hope BYU can make it a more competitive game and get a W on September 15. And if that happens, All Utah fans must admit that BYU is the better team...this year.
We will miss Corby. I'm glad he is doing well and maintains close ties to the program. He is a fantastic example to the young men on our team.
