The tag in my e-mail, listing this story reads:
"It's a bad idea for world leaders to endorse in a fellow world leader's election, Joshua Keating wrote."
I have to wonder if it's a bad idea according to Joshua Keating based upon the merits alone, of taking political cues from world leaders (which is not a good or bad thing, inherently), or, if it's a bad idea because President Obama is more popular among world leaders.
who needs the likes of cameron? if it weren't for the middle of nowhere people, he would be speaking in german rather than a high pitched voice english accent. by the way, the little 13 colonies kicked there butts 250 years ago.
If a world leader meets with the Queen of England, does that mean they endorse monarchies?
Meeting the President of the United States is not an endorsement.
If Romney released 5-10 years of tax returns, I would be vote for the guy. From my perspective it seems like he is hiding something in those returns. Call me crazy. Something is fishy, and I don't like it. Get it out now, or lose the votes Mitt.
To become a school teacher, you must :
• Score high on a standardized test
• Have a police background check
• Go through a series of interviews.
Let’s do it right for picking our next president:
• Let’s have a series of public debates.
• Have the candidates take standardized tests in math, economics, American History, and science, than allow citizens to view the results. IQ test would help also.
• Give each a police background check.
This would be better than just constant rhetoric.
"There is no way you can defend this President with one supportive fact! Obama has failed.
25 million unemployed
47 million on food stamps
16 trillion in debt
1.4 trillion deficit this year
1.5 percent economic growth! Anemic and pathetic!
Retail sales down
Manufacturing production down
His own Economic Advisors say his policies have failed! Vice-President Biden says were in Recession(june 27 ABC News)"
* He did get Bin Laden, and supports gay marriage. Isn't this great?
It amazing how many Utah Reps have alhiemers issues both young & old! Eight years of Bush-Cheney and the country driven right into the gutter and you people want more? Just tell your leaders and elected conservatives to start voting for the citizens of this country and quit being bought by rich big businesses. Come up with laws the majority wants, and work together and see how that goes instead of stonwalling every single bit of legislation sugessted would be a start. Then submit some law changes yourselves, that also would be nice. Then quit the outsourcing, that also would be nice, and last but not least have Mitt submit financial records like any honest candidate would & should do! Any problems?
UK unemployment is as bad as ours and France is worse – yup, THEY sure know how to show the way.
Atl134,
Cameron and Sarkozy are part of their respective nations' more conservative parties. That just shows how far gone those nations are. The UK showed off their NHS in the Olympic opening ceremonies. THAT is the best they have to offer?
merich39,
the rest of the world recognizes if Romney were elected the US would regain its competitive advantage.
Truthseeker,
have you notice the house has passed over a dozen jobs bills, but harry won’t let them come to a vote? Too much MSNBC for you! Why should I pay federal tax to support a firefighter in Stockton, CA when they have overspent themselves into BK?
Docrob,
tell me how making us ALL poor is the solution
Vince,
Bush AIN’T running. It was barney frank forcing fannie and Freddie to eliminate lending standards that gave us a housing bubble that burst that put us in this mess, not what bush did or did not do.
Come up with laws the majority of the people want – that would disqualify Obamacare.
don17, you hit the mark and tell the truth about obama's record and views. And how would an endorsement by world rogue "leaders" who stand for everything America is against be a positive thing in any freedom-loving mind? It tells us who has lost touch with liberty, life, and the pursuit of happiness. America has always fought outside its borders against tyranny, and won. Now, it looks like we have to engage this battle within our own borders. And, we will win again.
Conner Johnson, if Romney's taxes were an issue, the IRS would have been all over it and it would have hit the liberal MSM frontpage. On the same note, why don't you demand obama's college transcripts, transcripts of all obama's closed-door meetings with communists in the White House, a record of obama's campaign donations, etc.?
lost in DC,
Rhetoric. Diversionary insult. More rhetoric. Assumptions based on cherry-picked facts. Groundless allegation of media bias. Dismissal of every opposing world viewpoint for nationalistic rather than sound reasons.
Oh, its tiresome.
@ute alumni
I see that history is still not the US's strong point. Russia won the war in Europe, the US entrance into the war sped things up a bit, but make no mistake it was Russian blood that defeated the Nazis. The Azis powers lost more men at the battle of Stalingrad than the US did in the entire war, thats combining Europe and the pacific theatres by the way. You could say that the US stopped us speaking Russian, at least get your facts right. You right wingers love to rally against hollywood but you sure love taking your history lessons from them. Its kinda ironic that you could argue if it was not for the UK most of the US would be speaking German.
@lost in DC
Yup and look who is in power right now, yup thats right its the conservatives!!!! Their austerity measures have plunged us back into recession with no hope in sight of getting out. You are arguing against your own points, geez.
Re: UT Brit London, England
"I see that history is still not the US's strong point."
The English would like to forget the War of Idenpendence where the American colonists defeated the British Army and sent them packing. The English should be a little more appreciative. We helped save their knickers in WWII.
Re: UT Brit,
Is what you said a joke? I hope so, because if the people of England, and all of Europe for that matter are now believing that they and not the U.S. won the war, which was lost to you until we got in, then there is a whole revisionist history lie going on over there.
It wouldn't surprise me, but it is sad to think that current Europe/England don't know just how much you all owe to the U.S. Not only for winning WW11, but for winning the Cold War too. Want proof? Here it is. How many American lives were lost in Europe. How many trillions of dollars has the U.S. spent on opposing the oppression of Nazism and Communism. And all we ask is a thank you and a place to bury our dead. And now we take the lead again to fight the next world war, Terriorism. If you people over there are such ingrates, then maybe you're not worth fighting for anymore.
If Romney wants to show that he has more leadership credibility than obama how come on the international front he falls short
In re to WWII: the real issue is that US manufacturers were able to win the war. They were able to produce incredible amounts of war materials almost overnight which was sold to the Russians and British through FDR's lend/lease program. I might add that it was also American farmers who fed the Allies during and after the war.
Well I guess this is another one of his successes. You are all fools if you think he is working for the U.S.
"Keystone Fallout: China Readies $15.1 Billion Canadian Oil Deal"
Ah heck, we don't need the money or the jobs. He did say he wanted energy to sky rocket, guess he knows how to do it.
@Rifleman
I know its a big deal for you guys over there but really considering the UKs history, its just a footnote. We lost territories far more valuable to us than the US.
@m.g. scott
No, its historical fact, I suggest you try studying the war in Europe which you evidently have not. Imagine D-Day but with no air superiority and a million more Axis combat veterans waiting behind thousands more MG-42's. Not pretty is it? That's what would have happened without Russia. Luckily when the allies landed on D-Day we were facing mostly inexperienced boys as almost all of the combat vets had been chewed up on the Russian line.
Land lease played a part but the equipment did not get to Russia until after the Axis lines were broken.
As for numbers 183,588 US died in Europe compared to 10 million Russian dead.
I am grateful for the US servicemen who died helping to liberate Europe but it would have been impossible without the Russians. Like I said the US sped up the resolution of the war. Oh and WW2 started in 1939 not 1941....
World leaders and their country are on the American dole.
Who cares how they weigh in?
@Don Look I can do it too
Job growth for 27 months
Saved the auto industry
stopped us from losing 750,000 jobs per month
Only 900 billion added to deficit through Obama's policies. 4.1 trillion added by other president's policies
Economic Growth--No recession
Killed Osama Bin Laden
Passed constitutional healthcare law
Retail sales are not down and manufacturing is not down. It may have slowed but it is not down.
